Looking for a TiVo type device - no DVD or tuner, just HDD.
Does anyone know of any such device?
I dont want a tuner or DVD burner built in, just the ability to record TV shows and play them back. Timeshifting would be nice, but not essential. Cheers. |

I now realise how stupid i was to not want a tunner in it - the recording quality will be much much better, as it will be capturing the actual bit stream, rather than a SCART feed.

I am looking at the Humax and Topfield. From what i have read, the Humax is better out of the box but you can install some very handy plugins for the Topfield. |

thaught it was strange, was imagining you not knowing what a tuner was or something
yeah topfield and humax are the top-end products. with the Using the Humax PVR-9200T letting you USB recorded stuff over to a compy to do with as you wish (and likewise, stuff can be moved onto the recorder). however they are reather pricey, and theres always the option to just buy the cheapest you can find that will do the job. plenty of forums around that talk about different makes and models so i guess an hour of reading one of those will help you decide edit: dont actually have a PVR but continually wanting to get one, so i tent to read up quite a bit. will do soon Last edited by MadduckUK; 29-09-2006 at 05:41 PM.. |
