Weird how they call it an "open beta" yet you have to pre-order the game to get the key... hardly "open" is it?

Oh well, I never pre-order any games and I don't wanna get sucked into it like I did with WoW so I guess I'll never try it.

If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

Oh, and another thing I just spotted:

"This information is valid only for North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore."

So I doubt you guys will be able to access the so-called "open" beta either.

European Open Beta starts on the 7th. I've already got the client downloaded and ready to go.

Access can be obtained from pre-ordering the CE or the normal edition of the game, when you do this you get an open beta code.

It is an open beta, anyone who wants to can get access to it.

Same thing was done with WoW, you pre-order, you got into the open beta. Plenty of other games have gone this route, RF Online being one of them. Its makes sense really, its not a trial, its a beta and can/will/is be a little buggy. If you want a trial i suspect that will be available after the game has been out for a few weeks/months.

And Trash Man is correct about the European Beta starting on the 7th. The information you have sounds like the info from Fileplanet, which is the US/AU client and has been available for a couple of weeks, its been there early because of the preview weekend that happened. Plus from what i understand the only difference in clients is the server listing, again the same thing as WoW.

I must admit I am looking forward to this. My download is progressing as we speak. There has been a void in my gaming life since I finished Drake's Fortune and got bored of WOW.

    Specs:

I have my beta key and the client is downloaded- perhaps we should all try to get on the same server- if there are different ones!

There will be open beta key giveaways on selected community sites but the numbers will be limited - the preorder program was a way to guranatee that you'd get in.

The term "open beta" is more to do with the fact that the game is no longer under NDA, so you can talk openly about it.

There will be a number of different servers at launch, both core and open rulesets. No names have as yet been published. My WoW guild has a number of people who will be playing WAR, so we'll be grouping up. I see no reason that we couldn't tag some Hexus members along if you fancy some destruction fun

The login at www.war-europe.com is offline at present as they prepare to make the account centre live.

The downloader from wareurope was fine, 3hrs to get down the 8+ GB for me.

The site appears ****ed now tho as login pages are up and now borked due to the site being flash and the load being too high.
