Yep my character is 3 1/2 nearly 4 years old now I've not played it in 8 months! Just bored really the games changed a lot but I don't have the time really and in the end its still a grind like all other MMOG to make money to buy stuff unless your one of these super rich characters. The pvp side is fun but sometimes can roam around for an hour not get in a decent fight maybe thats changed now, could be more griefers too.

I particularly like how the Premium update deletes boot.ini and stopping XP from restarting! Don't know how their QA missed that one... that's a nerf and a halve.

Won't be able to download the premium until I go home for Xmas unfortunately.

Heh.. it's a surprisingly easy mistake to make and wouldn't usually show up unless you have a mistake in your registry. As usual QA labs never quite replicate the mess most people's computers are in

I had to put mine on hold for a few weeks till my student loan comes in, which will hopefully be tomorrow. I also forgot to put on a long skill before the playtime ran out

If anyone is really bored of their 30million+ skills points chars I wouldn't mind saving a few years grinding.

I've just started playing. Its very different

At the moment it seems to be very repetitive and there is so much I have to learn. I'll give it the 14 days the trial allows then make my mind up

Yes the learning curve is rather steep. In a cliffy kind of way

If you need any help poke me I'm "Chuck Skull" in game. You will become horribly addicted by the end of the 2 weeks, especially when you want to try out the bigger ships and the trial stops you.

    Re: EVE-Online

I'm a bit annoyed though now. The trial doesn't start from when you first login to EVE, it starts from when you got the email. Talk about stupid

That means I have 7 days left now, with 4 of those where I won't be by a computer. Grh.
Guess I'll try it for at least one month. After being disappointed by UT3 I need something to keep me busy

Ah thats a bit of a bummer. Especially as skills are time based. 3days just wouldn't give you enough time to train up for a big enough ship to cause trouble in.

I love this game too, i'd advise people to check out EVEMon and EFT. They can really help in designing your character and getting the skill sets you want in the shortest period of time. EFT will help you load out ships and figure out which skills you need for your ideal load out.

TBH you won't need a month to tell if you like the game. Either you can put up with the repetitive boredom accompanied by frustration as you get picked on by whichever idiot happens to dislike you or you don't.

I played for three years, mostly because when the game first started, there was a balance between the PvP and PvE aspects of the game and there was a challenge to be had in rasising the first billion ISK to buy a battleship BPO. Over the years PvP because the sole reason to play Eve, and thus I stopped playing. A game is no fun if a random idiot can come along and kill you whenever they want.

    Re: EVE-Online

I downloaded the free trial last night and EVE's been running on my desktop since then, distracting me from this coursework. It's a great way to procrastinate, although the sheer time it takes to do things means I generally end up working a little anyway

I'm not sure whether I like it or not yet - the scale of the universe and how many uber-players there are is a little intimidating at first, although the thought of piloting a great hulking Battleship is very cool indeed. Going to bin my day-old character and create a new Caldari one (one with better skills for mining) - Caldari ships look just like the Empire's ships from Star Wars!
