| I don't know if anyone else here has started to play Aion, but basically my experience is that if you don't log on at non-peak times, you face a wait of between 20 and 60 minutes to get into the game (reports nearly 1000 people waiting to log onto a single server) I wonder if there's any relevant UK or EU legislation to cover people who sell services that they can't provide because it seems proposterous that they can oversell their subscriptions in such a blatant manner. After all, they knew how many people were pre-registering on each server and instead of providing more servers, they increased the limits of the people who could register on each server. | Re: Aion - The Game of Queues Well, it gets worse, you can't even begin to queue tonight to get into the game. That's right, it's so bad that they won't even let you wait the 2+ hours needed to get on. Seriously, there's got to be some kind of news report in this for Hexus, because without the gaming press getting onto the case and putting some serious pressure on NCSoft, nothing is going to change. | Re: Aion - The Game of Queues It has been covered on gaming sites regarding the limited servers, launch server caps and long queues. After being in too many bad games launches i decided to sit this one out, lucky eh |

| Re: Aion - The Game of Queues Seems like they are listening, 2 new servers are being launched. One in French the other English. Was going to try this game out, but had no end of issues with just trying to download videos direct from their site. Glad i did really, plenty of WOW friends have been trying it with some having taken 3 days to download the client. Going to pass on this one, will wait and see what is on the horizon. |

| Re: Aion - The Game of Queues Once you're in, the gameplay is actually quite polished, though takes a bit of getting used to. The main issue is that it's harder than other MMO's, you take on one or two enemies at a time and that's it. Any more than that, or taking on the game's elites, requires a group of at least a tank, dps and healer. It's still definately an Eastern design philsophy, requiring a lot of time, effort and thought to get anywhere, which is why the new servers isn't really a "solution" to not being able to get onto your prefered server, you'd be giving up on a lot of work already (in about 60-70 hours play, only got to level 22 and it's a steep XP curve. | Re: Aion - The Game of Queues I've tried nearly every MMO that's been out and not enjoyed any of them past level 20. Decided to just let Aion go by since I heard it was basically a graphically superior WoW clone. SWTOR however... the gameplay videos are making me VERY interested. |

| Re: Aion - The Game of Queues Thanks for that, and surprisingly that's news I hadn't seen on Aion's main site! I guess it's because they're all up their arse about Twitter still (that's a whole 'nother rant and I'm in a good mood today) Have you seen this? www.lolrai.com "Life is like the map for a box of chocolates, half the ones you want aren't there and those you do want never resemble their drawings" |

| Re: Aion - The Game of Queues Queues suck, before they altered the private stores I was getting 5-8 hr queues, now it is either 2+ hrs or sorry the server is full. Personally I think NCSoft screwed up, they bragged that they had 400k preorders so should have had capacity to allow those 400k to all play at the same time during the headstart, then added more capacity when the game went retail. Now we have the farmers, bots and gold spammers clogging up the server and spamming the chat to death. I work so can only play in the evening except if I try to logon at 6pm it is basicly a waste of time so I have to remote access my machine from work and put myself in a queue 30 min before leaving for home. I did create a character on a differant server which had smaller queues so end up on that toon instead of my mains. |

| Re: Aion - The Game of Queues This is the same story with every new MMORPG as the masses are looking for "The One". Sadly this usually leads to a move by the Dev to add more servers and allow server switching. A couple of months later they are merging the servers due to lack of population. Then the game starts to dwindle and eventually only a handful of players remain. The other problem is usually within 3 months of an MMORPG being released another one is on the horizon and there is a mass exodus to "the next big thing" Again as they search for "The One" Sadly initial release issues destry potentially great games for me Vangard Saga of Heroes & Warhammer suffered this fate. Its about time the Devs learned from past mistakes and got a decent launch, first impressions go far. Mart |
