| The Hexus Warhammer Online Thread Hi guys, How many of you chaps are actively playing WAR? I have found the last couple of updates (most notably 1.3.2) has pretty much been a massive success. As a destro player, the new changes (and fixing of the AP bug) has really brought some much needed balance back and moved the game away from who is better at building a bomb squad! Never thought the lack of Forts would be a good thing, however it seems to have rejuvenated T4 into an arena where there is always something going on. Just wanted to collect the thoughts of people outside the normal WAR community. Maybe even pick up some who have left the game in the past through its terrible number of faults. What can be said is, Mythic have really started to turn a corner with its development and I think it warrants a second go for anyone who is thinking about doing so. Regards Jed |

| Re: The Hexus Warhammer Online Thread I was very interested in WAR before it's release, however, due to playing WoW and EVE a lot around that time, I never got round to it. Since then, I've just forgotten about it. After reading this post a few days ago I thought, I should give it a try and headed over to the site to download the trial. After a few installation issues (soon fixed after 5 mins reading the help forums) I got in game and started looking through all the chars to see which type would "tickle my fancy". The first thing I noticed was the sheer amount of options you have with classes (or careers as they are called in WAR)... There's 24! Much more than WoW's 10! If I read correctly, there's 6 of each type; tank, melee dps, ranged dps and healer/support. After briefly looking through and deciding I wanted to side with the Forces of Destruction, I then headed over to the forums again to have a look around and see what people were saying about all the different classes. One thing I noticed was that "Chosen" seem to be the most popular at the moment, but I didn't like the look of them. I also noticed that healers were few and far between, so with interest, I looked at the list of healers and the Shaman stood out, especially coz they are cool little green goblin fella's!! So, 2 days later, my little "Greenskin Shaman" is almost level 10 (the level cap for trial accounts), has done quite a few Public Quests (a much better implementation to doing hard quests than WoW's "Group" quests) and also done a fair bit of RvR... from what I can tell! LOL. It's still all a bit confusing as there's so much to it, not just a couple of BG's and Arena's. The one thing I haven't done yet is instances, as far as I can tell there are some around but I haven't a clue where yet. So, thanks for posting about this and reminding me about it, I'm really enjoying it. There are very few things I can say that's bad about the game at the moment, it's a nice break from WoW to be honest which was a long time coming after playing it for over 5 years! If anyone is interested, my char name is Snagbir (auto generated) and I'm on Gorfang, one of the only 2 servers it allows me to play on with a trial account. Will see where I go when I hit level 10, might even try another class whilst on Trial... any suggestions? Will probably try a melee dps next. If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside. |
