basically it looks like some guy got addicted to some game you play on line and then gave all the money he made away cause he realised he'd got no life...
and in doing so regained his life back.

Please, Don't ask for that one 'as a desktop'...its really not worth wasting your time asking, unless you're able to pay £££?

    a classic story.

Well written, and a great idea in the first place, the n00b that got all the money in the end must have been pleased.

read the whole thing all the way through aswell, took forever.

Basically, dude plays eve, trades a bit makes some cash. Patch comes out which nerfs his trading business, he goes mental with his cruiser and gets it nuked. Gets pissed decides to scam a load of people. Scams them for a lot of in-game cash then realises there's no point to having it any more and gives it all to a newbie and quits the game forever.

Problem is. If you want this summarised - do you read books by chapter titles? Its not just the plot - its the way this is written. Consider it a piece of modern literature. A book you don't have to pay for. Take your time reading it if you have to. Books are written for a reason

Indeed, a good post dkmech. I read all the way through, didn't take too long. Was a ery interesting tale, and it was well written. Lots of bad language though!

There was quite a few things I could point out as being wrong though, with regards to Eve, but for the sake of it being a good story, I won't. Also, does anyone know how true this is, really? I can imagine it happening tbh, there's plenty of people who try to scam on Eve (false trades on Escrow being one). I also find it hard to believe he'd give it all away and stop playing. But that's just my thoughts.

If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

I don't think thats the case shiato.

I played EVE myself. And i got really frustrated because someone got into our corporation pretending to be a nice guy and then kept following us and trying to extort money for not killing us. I used to do trade routes at the time (earning cash for a battleship). I would set my cargo ship's autopilot on and leave it to trundle through some safe areas without supervision. Police normally made it safe.

But corp members can attack you without fear of police, they can also see where you are on the map. He killed me a number of times, i never paid him off. I doubt he made that much cash off my remains as i carried a lot of cheap stuff and his cargo would have been too small.

I tried to fight him with my cruiser afterwards, but the first battle ended with a draw, he was too agile, i needed to freeze him. So i flew to buy a freeze gadget and he attacked me again. I would've been fine if it wasn't for horrendous lag. First i just tried to ignore him and fly away, but my ship wouldn't listen to my commands. Then i tried to fight, but that didn't work either. He killed me. I was REALLY frustrated. I can accept that he is a bad person and needed to be fought, but i could not accept that the game won't let me do that.

So i decided to quit. I had another month of subscribtion left so i used it to sell off my assets (all the minerals and stuff) and to train my character. In the end i had about 120 mil ISK (which can buy one a battleship and probably even cover insurance, although more cash would be needed to outfit it well). I could carry on. But i didn't want to have anything to do with Eve, even though i had this money (so i believe he would be able to give it all to a noob and quit, Allen). I hated it with a passion. So i put my account on ebay. 150 US dollars later i felt a lot happier.

I have to say that i actually HATED that person. When i play games I am happy to stab you in the back or to put a bullet in your head. But all you do is spawn the next round, curse your skills and try and outplay me. But i would not do something like stealing all your posessions earned through months of hard work (when you are aiming for a battleship and are saving cash it does turn into work). So when he exploited the game (the not being punished by police bit) and made it impossible for me to play the way i wanted to i hated him. Still do. This was the strongest negative gaming experience that i ever had.

In case anyone wonders why the guy in the storry didn't sell his money - think about it this way, if he did he would have befrauded people for profit. It would probably be illegal. And i am sure he would get a strong positive feeling from giving some noob the 300 mil.

Forgive the slightly jumbled up post. Eve's been emotional.
