    mage levelling

I'm about to hit level 17 with a mage, over at silverpine, south of undercity. The thing is, the quests tend to be a bit over my head; mages don't take a lot of damage, and the easiest way to avoid that is to pick off enemies one at a time, but they respawn and sooner or later I'm surrounded. I'm not in a position to be able to clock any of these quests without help, and don't really have time to group up with randoms.

Anyone got any suggestions for manageable levelling with a mage?

Polly, Ice Nova, Blink - those are the skills that are your friends however if mage is anything like my priest no matter how well you do crowd Control solo'ing alot of quests is far and can be very annoying. Now that im playing a warrior its so much easier and calming

Yeap I'm a level 26 mage atm as well and having the same issues.

Low HP and armour points means that you'll get raped a lot first of all. The best advice is FIND A BUDDY sharpish. I now have a shaman friend who uses his totems and heals me while I dish out fire, ice and arcane damage to the targets and then bop them with the staff.

Mages are hard to level, but its worth it later on in the higher levels.

If you are solo'ing then picking off the targets one by one is still the best way. At your lvl i was using Frostbolt as my first attack (slow effect) then hitting them with fireballs. As a Mage make sure you've conjured up plenty of water & food and if you need to, rest, as often as necessary.

Use your talent points wisely, upgrading your range is alway good, as is shortening spell casting time, this will make all the difference.

There's nothing wrong in grouping with "randoms" why try (struggle) and do quests that others are doing around you. Grouping with others will increase your friends list as mages are always wanted for groups.

cheers for advice all. I see your point about grouping for quests but as my few groups with randoms has shown me, teamwork is not an option in many cases I'll take your comments on board and probably solo til I get up to Elwe's level.
