    New car-based MMOG?

    http://eu.autoassault.com/

Think Mad-Max Online and you'll be pretty darned close to what it's all about

Auto Assault is an action-based Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG) that combines vehicular combat with role-playing elements. You explore a post-apocalyptic future in customisable cars, motorcycles, semis, and even tanks.

Three surviving factions - Humans, Mutants, and Biomeks - battle each other for control of the world, using heavily armed vehicles as their primary weapons.

Players create characters that specialize in vehicular assault, driving through the hostile environment for power, wealth, and fame. Solo, cooperative, and PvP (player vs. player) gamers will all find something to do, making friends (or enemies) along the way.

Do you love the smell of radioactive mutant fusion bombs in the morning? Do you enjoy the company of oversized, toxic, hungry xenomorphs? Did you ever wish that the world would just come to a crashing apocalyptic end, after which heavily armoured, armed to the teeth combat vehicles were the only means of survival?

and yes, there is a beta scheme: https://secure.plaync.com/aa_beta.html

Anyone else up for giving it a go?

If it was a MMOG along the likes of NFSU where you had proper street race's etc it might take off, mods to the hilt, possibility of tweaking every settings on the car then you get players who can control the illegal racers and then the cops I think you would have more fun

Reminds me of carmageddon, a MMO of that would rule!

A nfsu-chav game however, would suck.

I'm sure I remember reading that something like this would be released for the PS2 also. Probably not the same game though.

It's actually quite cool. I've been on the beta for it for a few weeks now, and from what I've played I've had a lot of fun. I don't get to play it as much as I'd like though because there are only 3 playtest sessions a week and they're all at stupid-o-clock in the morning our time.

If you remember Interstate '76 from a about 8-or-so years ago, it's very similar to that, only with RPG elements chucked in.....and also set in the future....not 1976.

Hmm, it's made by Net Devil. They have always had non-standard (in a good way) games. Jumpgate was pritty good in it's day.

Have signed up, see what it's like. Dunno when I know if I'm accepted or not...

If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

What's your tag in the game Wedge? Mine's just daGuvna...imaginative.

Allen, I dunno if they've accelerated the acceptance of new testers or not but I applied back in November and only recently got accepted sooo.....don't hold your breath, haha. I could be wrong of course.
