I like the look of the new inscriptions, although they (and the mats especially) seem to be stupidly priced at the mo, so will wait a while before looking at getting some.

The new skills for my Druid and Shaman are damn nice, they are kicking ass now with ease and virtually zero downtime, even on level 70-71 mobs. Also, Feral Charge in kitty form is just pwnage!

The new achievements are both good and bad IMO. The good side is it's nice to be able to track what you're doing, i.e. seeing that my chars have done over 1000 quests is insane, almost 1500 on my Druid! But the bad side is, they only really added it for bragging rights of hardcore players. The new Albino drake, new pet, new titles... all pointless and only server to promote grinding rather then move the game away from it. However, I will stear clear of those. It's just a shame you can actually compare side by side your achievements with others, so now people can see how much I suck.

There are a few other good things like improved smelting speed, mounts not in bags (awesome), new addons like calendar, using items whilst shapeshifted (awesome) etc...

The only bad thing so far is Numen isn't working... Which means playing my Shammy is difficult with all the totems missing. And no, I have tried others, but they are crap compared to Numen.

If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

Re: Who's still playing WoW then?

WoW is great but when you figure out that it does not depend (apart from "balanced" arena matches) on game skill it's a pointless grind!!

I do not accept that "all MMO's" need to be "a pointless grind".

The game is great (but it's only great for about 5% of time played - for example how often do you spend waiting for a raid / heroic group) thats a rip off...I'mm glad I deleted my characters rather than just stopped playing.....

Don't get me wrong Blizzard are fantastic at developing addictive online MMO games with fantastic open source addons and co-op based teamwork you hav to credit them for that, but seriously.....

    *The graphics are Pooo.
*The AI is stupid, unrealistic and predictable.
    *Multiboxing should be banned.
*The world should be dynamic (affected by what happens) - creatures spawning out of thin air (please)...!
*sitting down to get health and mana back - how enlightened...!
*Where do all these characters live.
*They use experts from the gaming industry to get people "hooked" on the World of Warcrack! (drops specifically matched to player time threshold)

I look forward to a MMO that rewards "game skill" and intelligent play over "time played", it's no coincidence the way the game has been developed to maintain the "just a few more minutes" hence flight paths, ES cooldowns, constant new "better goals", revamp of talents and adding silly seasonal trash for the kids etc etc...

Errrrmmm....Yes thats right - newer MMORPG's will enable citadels, castles, keeps, hobbit homes, moon base etc etc to be built by the player / guild / clan / alliance....

Done well this will enhance the "immersive dynamic gameplay experience", what most people really want not an "addictive artificial grind"...

Fair point but the game is £10 with a free month of game time so in the grand scheme of things it's not going to break the bank to "try" it properly .

I'm very new to WoW (only been playing a few days, which means that trying to read through this thread is like trying to read an alien language!), but last night, there were zombies everywhere! Reading about this, it appears to be in preparation for the Lich King expansion, but it's *really* annoying when your trying to level up your level 12 character, and you're jumped on by a level 70 zombie player! I didn't sign up for PvP!

This is being totally abused at the moment from what I can see. Using their "belch" spell you can give NPC's a disease, after 10 mins on a normal player you turn into a zombie (quite fun) but some NPC's just despawn.

Try using the battlemasters in Shattrath and you'll see what I mean. Players are constantly despawning them and they are gone for a while before they respawn. Very annoying.

Plus another annoyance at the moment is all the bugs, there's so many. Achievements, instances, BG's... I can barely do anything without my chars getting stuck or not updating properly. And the Armory hasn't updated for a while too from what I can see.

If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

Oddly enough, I've never thought that about any game I've played... And I've been gaming for about 20 years!

    LOL
I've been playing it for four years so there's a fair chance I'll still be playing it in five!

What is they say about relationships ..... It takes 1/3 of the time of the relationship to get over it .....

I can't bare the thought of that!

Besides it's taken me this long to get to lvl 60 so with RotLC I've years of play to go!

Fortunately the plague is ending ... we'll have to see what they have planned next ... but yes I can fully understand the annoyance - I tried to put 60+ of items on AH last night and had to keep cleansing the auctioneers!

Have they added the achievements to the game yet via a patch, or is that only coming in the update?

I'm being talked into playing WoW again by friends, after playing for 2 years, and I love the achievement system in WAR and was glad to hear there is the same type of thing coming to WoW. If I did start playing again in the next couple of days with a new character, as I sold my old account, would the achievements still be tracked if the system has not been added to the game yet, or should I wait for the expansion to be released?

Achievements were added on the 3.0 patch (a couple weeks ago).

There all in there although Bliz have said they will continue to add to the list.

Waiting for the expansion or not depends what you're after. I started back a couple weeks ago and I'm trying to level a new shaman (different server) to 70 before WotLK hits.

If you wait for the expansion then you'll have the choice of making a Death Knight that start level 50. Or you'll be alone in the starting areas until you catch up.

Death Knight starting at lvl 50 sounds good As I said I need to start again as I sold my old account with 5 lvl 70's on it Although I would like to play a warrior again.

What sort of class is the Deat Knight? Is it a tank?

Also is there anything I can download to install the game that has all the patches in it? Otherwise I guess I need to install WoW then BC and then patch?

DK starts at 55 and it'll be a tanking/DPS class. I think it will be designed to tank casters over melee mobs/bosses.
