Wow, just wow. Whatever people say about Apple they do know how to hit the mark aesthetically. Finally something that matches my Samsung Q30. The bar has been raised, which manufacturer will step up to the plate and try and match this?

Re: News - Apple unveils redesigned MacBook Air

It pains me to say this, but the 11.6in one is almost tempting.

Now if it was all black, or even red on the outside and ice white inside (like my Lenovo S10e) I would be making a trip to the Apple store. But I don't think I could use the silver with black keys combo in real life.

I know it's just aesthetic nonsense, but it matters to me. Oh and I'm not a fan of chicklet keys that apple use, i prefer a more traditional keyboard style.

I must say, if it wern't for the non user removable battery, I'd buy one of these.

Price point is high, but not that bad for the protability and battery life (when compared against a Z series for instance).

But the non removable battery.... why!?!

2h battery life and 5kg of weight isn't very appealing isn't it?

Think laptop always must = portability. If you go over the top you might be better with desktop PC...

DVD-RW drives are useless, don't have one in my laptop or desktop. How many times you actually gonna use it? To install the OS? Probably.

Bigger screen? You can get different range of Mac books with up to 17"

Re: News - Apple unveils redesigned MacBook Air

I'm quite disappointed that Apple have opted not to go with the i7 low voltage options. It seems that Apple doesn't wish to use Intel's integrated graphics - a problem with 13" MacBook Pro models.

Lion is obviously going down the touchscreen route, so I shall wait for a touch screen MacBook Air. Hopefully they will be using a current gen processor by that point.

Re: News - Apple unveils redesigned MacBook Air

Yes a agree being portable is important thing, but in this case its a 15.4" screen and weighs 2.8kg, so that is easily portable. Not really pushed the battery yet I will admit but I guess its 2-3 hours.

By all means the Apple will be the better machine, but is it £675 better... hell no.

Re: News - Apple unveils redesigned MacBook Air

I am sorely tempted by the smaller model!

Apple are absolutely right to introduce an 11.6" platform, it is the smallest useful size that can accommodate both of the following:

    1. Some serious processing power for genuine computing tasks (i.e. not Atom)
    2. A screen with a usable minimum resolution for desktop apps/games (1366x768)

    http://jedibeeftrix.wordpress.com/20...roke-the-atom/

The only shame is the relatively dated platform, they would be much better with Fusion.......... First update?

I'm not sure they will do this, as they laid it on quite thick about a vertical screen being all wrong for touch and they're pushing the trackpad/multi-touch for that. Mind you, it's not as if Jobs doesn't contradict himself so who knows!?

I'll probably have a play with one of the new MBAs next time I'm in a store but the C2D is a bit of a disappointment.

I think space is they key element here.. Yes i3 would be nice but I don't think it would fit or could be cooled down efficiently.

It does irritate me how Apple market these things with the classic photo of somebody holding it between their thumb and forefinger.

The reality is that if you tried this you'd probably break your fingers.

Actually, I miss read the specs, this is a turd of a product for the price.

I was looking at the 13" specs, for the 11" body, at the entry 11" price.

Come on, who in their right mind wants such a crummy display?

But my favourate thou, is jobs slagging this product off:

Yay for more sharp edges. If they're meant to be so good at designing things why don't they curve them a bit so they don't hurt your limbs when using them.
