Angry Doom movie should go to hell...

...but it won't, because they're written hell out of it. How can this movie turn out to be half decent when it is now lining up to be a clone of resident evil?

The lack of any kind of 'Hell' connection is something of a kicker. Doom 2 was subtitled 'Hell on Earth', and the key plot point of Doom 3 is that the monsters in-game are Hellspawn, hence the multiple pentograms and such vile creations as dead-baby-cherub-wasp combinations. A 'necessary' change, or a neat way to avoid right-wing criticism? We wonder.

man, it sounds crap, they might as well not bother making the movie if it isn't even going to have hell's demons in it and not be set on Mars

    whaaaaaaat the hell ?

Come on thats like writing terminator 2 and removing the ploymorphicplasmoid robot guy out of the story.

Doom is Hell related and has to be, they cannot just change it for a stupid, most likely to be pathetic ( look @ Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Mario Bros, for example) FILM.

Why does holywood think it can change the basis of everything to suit their needs.

I hope it turkeys and makes no money at all that will teach them for messing with our storylines

lol. Is there any news on a HL movie. Last I heard is that Valve were looking at bids. Has it got any further than that?

I hope there isn't an HL film - it would imply as far as I'm concerned, that the game doesn't tell the story well enough. Leave HL as a game, I say.

HL could be done as a film, but with more plot and intrigue than action.... but then that takes it far away from the game...

That's the problem with all these films of games... the games are action based with very simple objectives... the film producers try to get that across in the films but fail to realise its not possible OR entertaining to have a life action/CGI representation of a computer game... you get more enjoyment and value for money out of the game itself.

For example, in HL2 other characters come and go, if that happened in the film, people would be asking where they had been, what they had been doing etc etc... The HL2 is deep enough for an action game, but there's not enough there for a movie unless they do some serious fleshing out and work on some subplots too... but then that takes it away from the gist of the game. And anyway, the whole 'overthrow the oppressor' thing has been done a million times before: Battlefield Earth, Star Wars etc etc...

Generally (I recon) games do not turn out to be great films. Its as simple as that. I think it would be a bad idea to make a HL film. Let the game do the talking not some overplayed actor who probably has never had any involvement with HL before and doesn’t know the HL universe. That Doom film sounds utter crap btw, we will all have to wait and see how it turns out. To date the best game to film title i have watched is probably avp, it was pretty good if you could ignore the obvious flaws and mistakes, but it probably wont be remembered..
