    PC Cards Get a High-Speed Upgrade, and a Shrink

    PC Cards are going out of fashion and Express Cards are set to take their place. Reuters reports on this new technology which is faster and smaller than current PCMCIA technology.
    More than twice as fast as existing cards, and half the size, new ExpressCards will sport an orange rabbit logo and are aimed at adding features such as high-definition TV broadcast viewing and speedy backup storage to notebooks.

    ExpressCard was designed to be compatible with two data-transport technologies -- universal serial bus, or USB, familiar to many as the connector for peripherals like digital cameras; and PCI Express, an emerging conduit for video cards and networking.
