After cable recall, Xbox's still frying
Remember the Xbox power cord recall? Well it was a pointless effort if you expected it to fix the problem with your Xbox. The new cord doesn't fix the problem, instead it just stops the problem burning your house down. The Register reports on the real problem:

Why bother really, all those older versions are no longer covered by warranty. They should do as sony does, exchange it for a re-furbished one...which will cost you, and probably break in the near future.

So the problem is that repeated plugging / unplugging the mains lead can cause damage. Rather than tell us that, they send us a new mains lead ... causing us to unplug the old one and plug in the new. The very action behind the fault. Genius.
Somebody tell MS that British plugs already have fuses!
