The XY Factor Case (Xfire and Yahoo)

Are Xfire breaching Yahoo's patents? ipKonfig go in search of answers.
The so-called source code that Yahoo is concerned with is its Yahoo Messenger service, Game Prowler. Supposedly, employees, at the time, helped develop the technology at Yahoo, and that's where the issues come in.

Yahoo reports that "after Kirmse joined defendant (Xfire), defendant began to develop, test and offer instant messenger 'client' software and a messenger server that, when operated with game servers, offers the capabilities of the invention."

Hopefully the matter will subside soon, as such a battle can amount to a lot of money. That's where the hardship comes in; who's got the most of it? In any case before a judge that deals with source code, it becomes very difficult and time consuming matter in front of the court.

We had a chance to sit down with Mike Cassidy, CEO of Xfire, and ask him a few questions about the lawsuit, and a few questions about their software, Xfire.
