World of Warcraft Performance Guide @ Anandtech

There are 1.5million of you out there, but are you all experiencing World of Warcraft at its best?
Given the tremendous market penetration of WoW, we felt that it was time to take a look at its performance demands. But unlike Doom 3 and Half Life 2, there is no static element of WoW gameplay - everything takes place in an ever-changing online world. The result is that finding a repeatable benchmark to run is fairly difficult...but not impossible.

    Gameplay > Graphics.

I have no problem playing on a 9600Pro and 2600xp with a gig of memory. WoW is not Doom 2 or Half life 2, the graphics are not designed to be crystal clear polygons, its much more cartoony style graphics.

WoW doesn't need a monster system, and imo thats half its appeal
