No, it's made by Apple, apparently a far more prestigious status than any normal commodity.

not that I want one, but the trouble with being O2 is I can't get a signal where I am (in the middle of nowhere). I'm stuck with either Orange or 3 (and 3 have only recently started getting a signal thanks to an agreement with orange to bounce of their masts) 3 is a bit hit and miss too, my phone has had a great signal for the past few months however my neighbour was lucky if she got a signal at all and had no end of dropped calls (although I think this may have been more to do with her phone than anything else).

thats new. 3 used to use O2 as their fall back. Perhaps they still do, but now also use Orange in some areas.

Nope, 3 now use Orange as their fall back partner when there is no 3G coverage. O2 lost that contract, it happened some time last year, I think.

Personally, I would always choose the network before the handset, although if people want an iPhone, they won't have a lot of choice. Can't believe Apple didn't launch a phone that would work on 3G though!

    Cheers,
    Stephen

    There is always this instead..

    http://www.htctouch.com/

Hopefully that will be released on a usable network...need 3 or Voda to pick it up really I think there will be plenty more multi-touch phones like the HTC and iPhone over the next year or so, its not a propriatory apple technology, and other companies can and are doing it. I have suspicions that one of the next SPVs will include it too..so all is not lost
