Smile: you're on Sony T200 camera!

Be wary of the Sony CyberShot T200; it automatically takes pictures when you smile!

Hmm.. looks ok, but it's bound to suffer from the common flaws of super compact cameras with the lens in the corner like that.. (barrel distortion, vignetting, etc)

And why do Sony have that awful design!?

Re: Smile: you're on Sony T200 camera!

problem is, they all keep getting bigger than my T7....

I'd like to upgrade, as the picture quality is poor by comparison, and the now comparitivly low sensitivity dosen't help matters. But, my T7 goes in my pocket and is smaller than mobilephone/wallet. My t7 has survived most of britions top drum n base events, with only minor cosmetic scratching. It also has just excellent battery life... So, why do we get crap like touch screen interface (tactile, please, think of the drunken user) and smile detection.

'cos touchscreens are fashionable (apple says so)

Do sony still insist you use memory stick (pro?) with their cameras or have they got over that yet? I'm in the market for a new camera but i'm a bit of a canon fan (PS S10/Ixus 5MP).

Re: Smile: you're on Sony T200 camera!

memory format dosen't bother me, as even on the sony, £50 gets you a lighting fast memory stick of ample size.

Touch screens just drain the battery faster, and i've yet to find anyone who thinks that its better than a tactile interface.

I was in tottenham court road today, spending more money, and mentioned this to the guy, he agreed with me, saying he still has a T7 too as only fuji have ever made anything that comes close.

So i know they won't listen but this is what matters to me.
    Battery Life --- 90minuites +
Super Swift Turn on --- not even 1.5 seconds to taking a picture with the flash, from turning on.
Size --- about the size of 8 credit cards stacked together.

That's it. Quality is hard to judge, but i don't want stupid features like smile detection or touch screens.

Canon Ixus 850/900/950 perhaps? Dead small, turn on is much less than a second, I've yet to drain the battery in a single days shooting and it's tiny but useable, the picture quality is phenomenal, plus the image stabilisation makes taking pictures in gloomy/dark places a breeze!

Try them, they are deceptively small! (and totally agree with Agent, there's nothing that can touch them at the moment!)

Re: Smile: you're on Sony T200 camera!

I recently bought a Panasonic FX3 for 90 quid new - loving it!

The picture quality is decent enough, i can take loads of shots before the battery runs out and it has a fair number of useful scene modes (unlike some more gimmicky cameras). It was a steal in my opinion. I did look at the Ixus range, but the model i wanted was a bit over my price range

I do love the t7, in a way the bible tells us no man should love a digital camera, but it does seam prone to awful amounts of noise in low light.

Might have to look at them next month.

Mines a bit laggy in taking shots - y'know the time it takes to actually take the photo after you press the button? Are later models better now?

My Ixus 850 is almost instant, it's not quite as quick as my D50, but it's certainly a damn sight quicker than any other compact I've used.
