WANT!, Graphics are very impressive for a console, /holds out for PC release at the same time, not holding my breath though.
Does look immense.
I`ve said elsewhere that watching the video and listneing to the narration it sounds like the main character is a middle aged, slightly overweight business man. This could add some credence to the idea of multiple playable characters expecially as in the video he talks about wanting better for his kids. After all It`d be a pretty short game if he was the main char, heart attack after running down the first street
doubt it, Rockstar know that as soon as it hits the PC it will be pirated within a few days so they deliberately stagger the PC release to maximise console sales. Its a system that works for them and i dont see them changing it.
Does look pretty awesome though, il happily play it on my console anyway.
Naaaice.
BF3 is heavily based on multiplayer which is a lot more difficult to play on pirated copies of the game. Whilst GTA has a multiplayer and it is in fact quite a good laugh, most people will buy and play it for the single player.
1 million isnt many sales though really...
Im sure BF3 and the witcher have been pirated anyway and im sure GTA5 would still sell if it was released on PC on day one, i still think they will see more sales this way. The aim isnt to cut out piracy, none of the developers are that naive, the aim is the maximize sales despite piracy.
Dont think so, pirating on XBox and PS3 exists however its a fraction of the amount it is on the PC. Just think about how easy it is to install a a cracked game on the PC compared to getting a console to work with pirated disks (which often have to be of a certain brand, speed and size to work). Take a quick trip onto a Warez site of some kind and see how many PC games there are compared to consoles.
Maybe its also because PC takes longer to test due to the amount of hardware combinations however i strongly suspect piracy also factors into rockstars staggered launch dates.
OK Biscuit what about the fallout games. they sold a few million mate. PURE single player. expect the new one to sell 2million or more which is still a lot. Not many games sell in the million mark. only a selected few do which are gta, fifa, forza, cod.
in other words household names
Well fallout 3 is a good example of why console sales are so much more important to developers than PCs. Look a the percentages; less than 20% of the fallout sales were on PC. Take that into account and then add in the extra testing and development that PC games actually take, throw in the piracy factor and you can see why things seem less appealing for them.
Im fully aware that games will sell despite piracy, especially the ones which you have quite rightly categorized as 'household names', im simply suggesting that Rockstar knowingly sell on the console first as its less likely to get pirated as quickly and more likely people who would be tempted to just pirate it, will just buy it. There will always be some people who will wait and pirate it anyway Like i said its about minimizing piracy as much as possible.
I would have thought if the day 1 PC release was important to the success of the game, they would actually try and meet it. They know it will smash records without the risk of early PC piracy so why bother worrying about it?
The earlier release of console editions has, in the past, been due to exclusive licensing. Certainly was true of the GTA3 series anyway; where Sony and Rockstar signed a mega $$$ agreement that the PS2 would get the game well in advance. The XBox and PC versions were released together at a later date.
In any case, I think most software houses know that the real meat of revenue nowadays comes from DLC.
Got so excited when I saw this, had to start playing GTA IV again to get my fill...
