Re: News - UK TouchPad fire-sale confirmed

@Jasp> You could give me one

Interestingly I've read that in the American firesale HP offered the TouchPads at the reduced price from their online store, that isn't happening here: http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/products/tablets/index.html

Amazon didn't reduce their prices for the American firesale so I don't expect them to do it in the UK, but it is strange how some stores don't bother- it's not like they are loosing out because HP will reimburse them

Re: News - UK TouchPad fire-sale confirmed

Maybe this is all a crazy double bluff from HP. Trigger massive fire sale, actually get some into the hands of end-users, which kick starts app development, which triggers more people wanting them at a price which is actually profitable and then BOOM. We were only kidding, we are still making mobile devices after all.

... Congratulations to all lucky enough to get one - I have never really seen the need / use of a tablet, but at this price you really need an excuse NOT to get one.

Not happening for HP employee sales either - TP's mysteriously vanished from the UK store's front, although it's still showing as available if you search for it. Downside, is that it's at full price. So much for rewarding their employees...

Nice thought, but I really, really can't see it happening. Other black helicopter theories being bandied about are that this is merely an attempt to dump a device based on poor hardware, and that after they've all gone we'll get a "oh, we totally misunderstood the demand - here's new, improved TouchPad2!" - equally unlikely.

As you also say - under £100 for a base device is a cracking price - personally I think if they'd pitched the "full" price at twice that, then they probably would have sold a stack of them. I was tempted myself (at the employee discount) but the lack of external storage meant that I prefered to go for an Android device.

Argos have it for home delivery but not at the ~£100 price point.

Anybody know for sure if i can return it if they don't reduce the price?

Re: News - UK TouchPad fire-sale confirmed

Amazon reduced prices on the 16GB at midnight I think, I was watching the price and then it popped up in the "New & Used Deals" at midnight @ £89 with 5 left in stock, so I ordered one - still said there was 2 in stock a while after I finished so I hope my order is fulfilled. Was sold out before I could pass the news on to anyone though!

If you go to Amazon now it points you to a market place/3rd party seller without discount... that happened last night, you had to see "Amazon.co.uk" in the "New & Used" section.

Didn't see the same thing on the 32GB version, but I wasn't bothered about paying £26 more for 16GB of storage on a tablet that may or may not actually be any use!!
