Side bar - but are we seeing any revisions on AM3 processors?
The FX 4100 surely makes the similarly priced Phenom quad core look an obsolete choice now!
Am I seeing thing here? Why is Scan prices are higher than other retailers?
Surprised Aria aren't on there, from my scanning they were first in the UK to put pricing up.

You'd have to be mental to buy one of these if you're already using an AM3 chip (especially if you don't already have an AM3+ motherboard which probably most people) or any modern day chip from intel...
The thing is, although AMD market them as 8, 6 and 4 core they aren't really, they're more like 4, 3 and 2 core (module) but with 8, 6 and 4 threads. Each buldozer "marketed core" / half module is weaker than each phenom II real core. It's a bit like Intel calling there 2600k an 8 core because it has 4 cores but can work 8 threads. it's just marketed at those who don't do any research and see a big ghz number and core count and thinks it must be better.
I'm shocked that Scan are the most expensive ! I've always shopped at scan because they are cheeper & you get the free shipping... May have to look else where for prices now![]()
Scan prices are actually cheaper than what is listed here on hexus:
8150 £199.98 | 8120 £167.99 | 6100 £143.99 | 4100 £94.99
And the equivalent Intel prices are i5 2500k £170 and i7 2600 £250.
So given that hte FX 8150 is barely as good as the i5 and a lot worse than the i7, exactly what is the point of the FX-8150? (actually I am not entirely sure whether there is much point to the i7 at that price either!)
