Re: News - PlayStation games coming to HTC smartphones and tablets

Even with a gamepad, playing some of these games on the small screen really has limited appeal, which makes us wonder: who really wants to play old PlayStation games that were made specifically for gamepad controls on a touchsceen? Personally, we can’t see the appeal at all.
Last time I looked the current HTC phones have screens that are at least as large as a "proper" PSP's, and certainly a heck of a lot larger than a PSP Go's. That being the case, perhaps the "small screen" tag isn't quite justified?

Second point - controls - agree totally. I can't help thinking that the ideal (assuming that the OS would permit it) would be some kind of Sony gamepad peripheral. This would connect via the MicroUSB connector that most Android phones seem to sport these days and - like the XBox controller - could include a rechargable battery pack to go someway to ensure that the phone's battery wasn't drained as much when you were game playing.

I was thinking that a Galaxy S2 (large, vivid screen and fast) with this controller peripheral (and maybe even a PowerSkin too) would be a superb games machine.

Yep, and as far as I'm concerned it's a good step - especially if they don't stop with HTC - so do Motorola, Samsung, etc too.
