The US gets it so easy.

£420 is $663. Thats $163 £103 over the US asking price.

I won't be buying anything till the market stabilizes (AMD drop their prices)

Most US states have to pay sales tax. For example, in San Francisco the price you pay is almost $550.

Remember that hexus prices will likely include VAT, whereas US prices never include sales tax (typically circa 10%)

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680: Launch day pricing and availability

The cheapest cards in the US were around $500 which equates to around £380 if you include VAT over here. So we are paying around £20 to £40 more. Seems about right - the same happened when AMD launched their cards too.

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680: Launch day pricing and availability

It's strange how the cards shipped from China/Taiwan so it's similar distance but somehow we still have to pay ~10% more (adjusted for currency/VAT).

Bring on the 670/660, can't afford more than 220 quid on a card but I want to replace my trusty old 5850!

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680: Launch day pricing and availability

£420 minus VAT is £336, which Google informs me is $531 USD. £399 is £319/$505. So the difference in the price charged by retailers isn't that huge (between £5 and £20), although the amount you pay might well be (depending on what US state you're comparing the UK to) but that's purely the result of the 20% VAT rate.

Re: News - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680: Launch day pricing and availability

Well, in any case, the card seems to not be the 580 equivalent in the Kepler range thus I guess I will wait till the GK110 comes out
If the GK104 maims everything already, it is going to be positively hilarious once the real deal hits home!

Though I kinda get annoyed on the increasing prices on new cards in general, but hey, hopefully they see the light and reduce accordingly.

I don't get what this is meant to be, it's using the supposedly mainstream chip but it's named and priced as a high end card. Does this mean the GK110 is just going to be an ultra-enthusiast £600 flagship, which is more a symbol than a viable product really? What are they going to use to fill the £100, £200, etc. range - crippled GK104s or some different chip entirely? Or is the GK104 going to drop in price once the GK110 comes out?
