If they come in a wired version, I might pick one up for my PC. Or wait to see what the new Xbox's controller is like

I can't imagine this being very comfortable. Grease from the palms will make it slippery and the chrome will pick up fingerprints.

I don't see the appeal here at all.

Just can't see the appeal of these. But it's probably good move if the buzz the likes of Razer, Steelseries etc. generate with their gaming mouse variations is anything to go by.

The plain chrome would look amazingly good if you lived in a bare room painted white, otherwise it'll just look a bit weird, I think.

Re: News - Microsoft unveils Special Edition Chrome Series Xbox 360 joypads

....but the premium price tag might limit the appeal of these controllers to all but the hardened Xbox enthusiasts.
From my perspective, that's understating it somewhat. I don't really give much of a flying fig what colour the controller is, though for my preference, something nice and neutral like, well, the standard one. And the red one would have to be at a serious discount price from the normal one before I'd buy it .... unless it came with a pair of free Raybans. The chrome one .... well, I'd want to feel what it was like to hold. If it's slippery, I wouldn't buy at any price.

It's a gimmick, pure and simple. It'll probably work, though.

The Chrome one looks the best. Who would want the blue or the red one ?

I've had a chrome one for 2 years now. 3rd parties have sold conversion kits since forever...don't find it particularly slippy either.

Fair enough. Still don't see the point, personally, but it's personal choice, I guess.

Again, fair enough. Makes sense. Especially if colour-coordination made it easier to get past Domestic Management.

Re: News - Microsoft unveils Special Edition Chrome Series Xbox 360 joypads

I've got the matt silver ltd edition model they released last year, the D-pad is a hell of a lot better than the ones on the standard pad (although it could still be improved a bit).

The only thing I disliked about the pad I had was that the coloured buttons were shades of grey (Y=90%, X=50%, B=75%, A=25%) instead of the normal Red/Yellow/Green/Blue. Which is fine unless you're playing a game which uses colours for it's QTE, and you can't remember quickly which button "Red" was...

You can buy the buttons in various colours from quite a few places as well.

The only problem I've had with modding them is getting a "secure torq" bit (T8H) to unscrew them.
