Re: News - GeForce GTX 670 details emerge

If the 680 has 20% additional performance to a 7970
    Then it could be reasonable to expect 7970 performance at £350 (ie. £350 + 20% = £420)

I expect the base price will be £320 and performance will be slightly superior than the 7950
I just wish they would take the fight to AMD and release it at sub £300

NVIDIA pricing structure (for now), should look as follows:

    $999 (£840) - GTX 690 4GB
    $579 (£490) - GTX 680 4GB OC (Preferred AIB Pricing)
    $499 (£420) - GTX 680 2GB
    $479 (£400) - GTX 670 4GB (Preferred AIB Pricing)
    $399 (£335) - GTX 670 2GB
    $249 (£210) - GTX 660 (Ti?) 1.5GB

Products are expected to be formally announced next week, with mass availability and custom designs by Computex Taipei 2012, which is scheduled to take place between June 5-9 at World Trade Center and Nangang Exhibition Hall in Taipei, Taiwan

    Pictures of the GTX670:

It looks like the GTX670 will be at least £300.

Re: News - GeForce GTX 670 details emerge

The images are from a Malaysian store and the source also hints that they could be available at the same time as the 690.
Meaning that the reported reveal (due to the NDA) might also include an available today on the 7th.
The rumours also hint that the 660Ti will be released at the same time.

Looks like holding off buying a new GFX card might have saved me disappointment. Might have to start buying only EVGA, for their 30 day trade.

Re: News - GeForce GTX 670 details emerge

I'm rather interested in 670 or 660Ti, I want a little more speed than my 570 but with a larger frame buffer to help out games like Shogun but most of all I want to get a custom cooler that's quieter than my reference cooled 570, I really expected to have upgraded by now only bought a cheap 570 to hold me over until the next-gen - and that was last August!

How much was a cheap 570?

I'm still looking for something with >50% performance boost over my 5850 at 200 quid price point... still not quite there yet.

Re: News - GeForce GTX 670 details emerge

The 680 is more like 10% faster than the 7970, while this 670 has 14% less shaders alone. With reduced clocks on top of that it's more likely to be closer to the 7950, which is currently available for just under £300.

Re: News - GeForce GTX 670 details emerge

The net is quoting OCuk "Gibbo" from the 26th April who states the 660Ti will be 6+ months down the line.
This makes sense as the 670 is made from the 680 chips that didn't quite make it.
The 660Ti will be made from the 680 that aren't good enough for the 670.

Surely the process would get better in time so there would be less bad chips.
Maybe the 680s are in short supply because only a small percentage are good enough.
Maybe the 690 is two sub standard 680s (hence the lower clocks? with limited OC headroom), while the 670 is even worse.
I guess availability of the 670 would answer the question on yield quality. Very interesting

Also for transparency (and because I am being pedantic)... 680 vs 7970 @ 1080

    AvP (12.6%)
    Arkham City (33.3%)
    BF3 (27.2%)
    Crysis 2 (23.0%)
    Just Cause 2 (22.6%)
    Total War: Shogun2 (17.9%)

So as an average the 680 is 18.6% faster than a 7970
but if you ignore the best and worst result its 22.7%
and the average of them = 20.65% which I rounded to 20% which I think was fair to say.

The 7950 is roughly 40% slower than the 680

it doesn't work quite like that in reality. They'll cripple perfectly functioning GK104's to meet demand for 670's if need be. The 660 (Ti) might also use a different chip, as the 560 Ti (384) did.

Re: News - GeForce GTX 670 details emerge

It looks like the actual clockspeeds are somewhat lower:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/165252/MS...-Up-Close.html

    The PCB is tiny too:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/165336/Co...-Pictured.html

The card looks similar to a GTX560SE:
