If they are suggesting people do the upgrade themselves........ They are probably going to have one hell of a shock.

I wonder how many people will be asking for a similar downgrade option once win 8 is out...

They'd probably be willing to pay more than $15 for that

Yeah, I'm trying to find a reasonably priced win7 pro retail soon...

I don't get why you have to pay again though? Surely you've already kinda paid for it?

Can you turn the Metro feature off ?

"Windows 8 Professional Ultimate users will be offered the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro only"

    Is that a mistake?

Not exactly, but it takes literally one click after startup to get into "traditional" Windows desktop mode. It's not a big deal, people are just jumping on the ill-informed hyperbole bandwagon as usual.

Microsoft being Microsoft will charge you for this option. This is exactly what they have been doing with 7 and users wanting XP.

So many, why move to windows 8, when you've only just moved to windows 7! What benefit does it give to your business.

Nah if you don't need media and are a volume customer, it will be free, OEM probably free.

Better than having to buy service packs and not getting a 10 year security update cycle, like apple or adobe.

I am currently using Win 7 Ultimate 64bit, and I would like a copy of Win 8 too. I hope they offer a free copy to Ultimate users (considering the cost outlay for this version. Or at least the option to purchase the Win 8 Pro/Ultimate version for a considerable discount.

There's no non-Metro start button, so it doesn't help much.

i'd be interested in a free upgrade or a huge discount for windows8. But would I change to windows 8 probably not as I'm content with all the features windows 7 has i might wait until windows 9/10 comes along
