so that's goodbye blackberry then, neither company could survive on its own. It may delay the inevitable but will make it more of a certainty. The only hope would be BBM for android, but only if manufacturers provide it, can't see it working as a paid for app.

I'm pretty sure I read over at crackberry.com that the second BB10 device is going to be something with a keyboard.

I could see BBM being a successful paid for app, so long as it has excellent security and doesn't provide governments with a back-door.

I don't think the rumours are worth taking seriously at the moment.

Yes, BBM would be a successful app on all app stores in my opinion. I wonder how long the Blackberry handset company would last for?

Re: News - RIM may split in two; handsets and messaging software

Interesting - RIM definitely need to do something as their current structure isn't working for them, and however awesome BB10 is set to be, it won't be enough to save them imo.

Good news for me that the first BB10 devices are still going to be touchscreen only - I personally hate the BB keyboards with a passion (awful to use imo) and if the on-screen virtual keyboards in BB10 (which is still QNX based) are as good as the playbook versions, they will be fine.

looking forward to the full announcement

The first BB10 handset will be touchscreen followed shortly by a keyboard version.

I have to say, their on-screen keyboard looks awesome from demos I've seen. Upside is BB10 apps will work on playbook so it will see some apps head its way.
