I think its a case of how you pack them.

cathay pacific. actually the first time i took them as i usually take emirates and tbh never had a problem taking my dslr, laptop etc.

i went philippines last year and took cathay pacific. it was the first time i took that plane and the first i took my 70-200f2.8 lens which weighs near 2kg on its own.

packed it all in a lowepro fasttrack 350 backpack which i used previously before in emirates and never had a issue.

Anyways to cut a long story short, i got denied when i was trying to checkin at heathrow.

the hopeless woman kept insisting my carry on lowepro backpack must weigh no more then 5/6kg and that i had to put my dslr with the 70-200 attacked in my luggage(****ing no chance) or my laptop(sorry, again, go to hell) and after arguing and pissing around for nearly an hour, went away for a couple of minutes and approached and checked in my stuff in another desk!

went through easily. no issues. no questions asked.

When i was going back home from philippines they this time weighed my gear and after the knew it was because i had pro camera gear and laptop they was fine for me to go through after a quick chat with one of there line managers.

This is why when i go florida in two months time i dont think i will bring my laptop. This is why a device like a nexus 7(finally getting back on topic lol) looks ideal IF i can connect my dslr or card reader and upload raw files on it and then sync and back them to my dropbox so later when i get back home i can PP and upload them.

edit: i also carry on a couple of medical supplies like my inhalers and a couple of snacks as well(crisps, popcorn etc) but that doesnt weigh too much

Sounds like the girl was having a bad day / rubbed up the wrong way. I've flown to HK with them without any issue a couple of times (heck one time I was 8kg over limit, no charges!)

They do limit more going east from London than going West, so I doubt you'll have an issue going to Florida, if you look at hold limits, its often twice going to the US what it is going to HK.

My only complaint with this device is connectivity. Hell, you can't even stick a USB flash drive in it if I'm correct? So what would I use this for if I cannot connect anything to it? Everything else is absolutely fine, I mean the specs. Really good and priced appropriately.

It can take a usb flash drive, early days in testing as not many people have one yet but the devs are looking at it. Maybe it was rushed out without everything fully working to beat out the ipad mini, who knows. But there's a thread on xda and it can definately read and write to usb stick. There's also one website claiming it has usb to hdmi but that sounds more like a rumour for now.

I think it should be able to, people have got it running a portable hd off usb. It just needs some software tweaks, maybe an app developed to make it all work properly.

Re: News - Nexus 7 tablet shown at Google I/O, runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

    im back!

questions i have asked so far to my ex work mate who went to the google conference and got a free nexus 7 tablet

Is it faster then your S3?
Yes it is because of JB and 12 core Gpu

what is the screen quality like?
    exactly same as galaxy nexus

    sd card slot?
    Nope

Can you connect a usb stick on it?
Nope as its disabled in the karnel(root it and you are good to go! just install a rom that enabled usb host mode. thats it)

    battery life
Great so far 8-9 hours battery life

    aditional notes:
Bazel is quite large and it is the best 7 inch tablet available. They are also working on a 10 inch version.
That is what i asked so far. he went to the google conference

Love how without the context of a tablet, this could be kinda ammusing.
