I love the idea that as a consumer you can see a product and go "we if it had a larger screen, double this, triple that, less of this and more of that and cost half the price I'd buy it!"

Re: News - QOTW: Will you be buying Google's Nexus 7 tablet?

Tempted, but seeing as I justified buying a laptop to the wife as 'I could get a tablet, but I'd get frustrated with it, cos i wouldn't do what I need it to do', I doubt if I'd get away with it. Unless I bought it for her...

Like others, if it had an SD slot then would get it in a shot. Pity really .

Nope. Got a Galaxy Note. It's plenty fondleslabby for me.

However, if I some old phone with a puny screen, then I'd snap it up

Re: News - QOTW: Will you be buying Google's Nexus 7 tablet?

It is very appealing, but without an SD slot of some sorts, I wouldn't have anywhere to store movies, therefore it's a pretty useless device for my usage. I would want one that I could take on holiday to a country that I won't have 3G or Wifi and still be able to use it for media...

I'll be holding out of the MS surface more than anything.

If you can plus a phone in for tethering, surely you can plug a USB drive in for extra space? Or does it tether by another means?

Looks interesting but my phone upgrade is due so may just have to grab the Galaxy Note instead.

You need to root it, you can't do it by default. Once rooted, you can use USB OTG for mass storage.

I voted I'm not ill. It looks like a really awesome device but I just can't see a tablet sized space between my laptop/pc and my SGSIII.

Re: News - QOTW: Will you be buying Google's Nexus 7 tablet?

Yeah i've bought/pre-ordered one.. I quite like my iPad most of the time but the OS is dumb as hell compared to android at times and I hate the stupid restrictions Apple places on it to prevent things from being better. That said, this isn't "for me" it's for another member of the household
I do use the iPad a lot more than I thought I would - even with a GNex as a phone.

Not bothered about SD slots etc - never really made use of them on my phones and my GNex phone is mostly empty anyway.

Re: News - QOTW: Will you be buying Google's Nexus 7 tablet?

I would seriously consider it only if it had SD or USB slot so I could connect either an SD card and move it between Nexus and my other PCs, or a USB flash drive. This way it's pretty useless as I don't want to upload/download stuff from the cloud all the time. It's ridiculous. According to Anandtech micro-USB slot can be used for external keyboard and mouse, and ethernet over USB only. And for charging the unit, of course. Really bad move Google. Losing loooots of customers over one tiny little, but huge, detail like that. I'll be waiting Nexus 8 when they come to their senses and put a SD or proper USB slot on it.

Re: News - QOTW: Will you be buying Google's Nexus 7 tablet?

I don't see that a card slot is an important feature for me. A movie in AVI format is about 800Mb and I honestly don't think that on a 7" screen you're going to notice that much difference.
The one thing that's missing that I would have liked is 3g but we can live without it. She's mainly going to be using it at home for surfing or streaming video from my PC or at work were she'll be watching instructional videos on Youtube so no storage is required. The only storage requirements she will have will be for apps for which 8Gb might have been a bit restrictive but 16 should be fine.
