Yeah, they were on the Mastertronic games. They done that one where you have to draw the lines and fill the screen and they also done the Invade -a- Load where it was Space Invaders during loading. If you stopped the tape you could play them as long as you wanted!

    Totally.

I just watched the BBC vid.

Just seeing the buggy boy loading screen with the flashing bands of colours and when i heard the sounds from the game i got goose bumps.

I want to play Buggy Boy again.

Going hunting for some emulators tonight.

    I feel 7 again.

HaHa, Parallax, named after the new scrolling method the programmers found where a foreground and background image can be moving in different directions! Many game review after that game was released referred to Parallax scrolling in new titles, absolutely awesome. It actually took me months to work out what you had to do on Parallax, the instructions on the cassette box sleeve just had controls. A friend told me about landing at the runways and taking your guy out and into where the scientists were!

Ah, who can forget the legendary Andrew Braybrook, his shooters were always amazing but you cant have a conversation about Uridium without bringing up Paradroid which sees a new iteration or remake every few years.

I loved my C64. It was a step down from my Sinclare QL though which I'd had previosuly. And, I'm afraid I went Atari ST after the C64. I had the Simon's Basic cartridge which let me do sprites (MOBs I belive it called them) without mucking about with pokes.

My real love though was the BBC B though. My mum had one and school had them, but I didn't for a long time. I finally acquired my mum's though. Sadly it's modulator (everyone remember them?) is a bit dead and won't frequency. Anyone know how I can connect it's monitor output to some monitor that I might be able to buy still?

OMG! Laser Squad! OMG! I really enjoyed that game. It was terrific on multi-player too. Mythos were awesome developers. Lords of Chaos was a top notch title too! It was a fantasy version of Laser Squad. You're the first person to reference it on the internet since my childhood. <3

Well there was always X-Com and Lasersquad nemesis if you like the original lasersquad. Think X-Com is still on Steam.

A step down! Seriously? Hehe personally I thought the QL was fairly crap but that's just my opinion...

I had a C128 with an Action Replay: it was awesome, speeded up those pesky cassettes no end :-)

Also got a 5 1/4 inch floppy disk drive, and later, a 3 1/2 inch (very rare and expensive at the time).

Laser Squad, Wizball, Thalamus stuff like Delta, lots of indie Brit titles, excellent. Never liked Braybook's games for some reason. BTW he occasionally popped into the local emporiums here in Colchester to check how well he was selling (and if anyone was copying his stuff, which was rife in shops as well as homes).

Also liked the old SSI rpgs (Phantasie, Eternal Dagger, Shard of Spring), Ultima and wargames from Aussie softco SSG...

I started with a Commodore 16+4, then Atari 2600 before getting a C64 (couldn't afford it when it first came out).
Anyone remember when they brought cartridges out for it? I still remember the excitement of getting Robocop on cartridge and I didn't have to wait 15mins for it to load! Good times.

I remember those cartridges. I had Terminator 2.

I also remember those carts that allowed you to hack games and give you infinite lives and such. I had to use it to complete project x ( iirc it was called that. A bit like r-type ).

Action Replay was one of those carts. Could also be used to 'backup' games too and was thus seen as part of the piracy problem back in the day..
