The BBC needs to gimme a Flash free iPlayer...
It's just a pity about WebM (VP8) not being widely hardware accelerated; just after h264 acceleration becomes commonplace, we have another format aiming for widespread use. I mean it's better to use an open format but it's still annoying.
Yep everything should be high profile h264 now.
Sorry for the off-topic, but which ICS ROM are you using on your Desire? I really want to try out one of them but have no idea where to start, there seem to be hundreds all with lists of different things not working... is there a single stable ROM out now with everything working?
I use sandvold. I am a few versions behind because everything works that I want. I can't remember what kernel I'm using (you can choose during installation). Some of them sometimes cause lockups. Whichever one I'm using seems pretty stable.
You have to be prepared to play around a bit. It was worth it for me, I think.
I'm running ICS333 for my Galaxy S. I don't run much flash content either but it's nice to have that option.
Check out the XDA-Developers forums, users post custom ROMs that are based from all manner of sources....from base Andriod ASOPs to tweaked versions of another phones ROM (my DesireHD runs ICS which is a modded ROM from a Sensation)....plus many based on Cyanogenmod.

Thats a shame, i've got quite a few flash files saved locally on my HTC desire (eg. some flash games and a lot of weebls-stuff flash videos)
I'll make sure to keep my titanium backup of the flash player saved safely for next time i mess around changing ROMs then!
Really disappointed about this. This was one of the main advantages of Android over iOS![]()
