    Re: News - LG Optimus G officially unveiled - 1.5GHz quad-core monster

What are LG phones like for rooting/unlocking?

I'm still very happy with my HTC Desire (original) running ICS, but this looks pretty nice!

    Might be bit large though.

Nice spec, not so sure about the visuals though - too "slabby" for my tastes. Fixed memory isn't so good in my book, and I'm guessing that there's a fixed battery too.

Quad S4 though - oooh, I bet that'll shift... Wouldn't mind that brighter screen on my S3 too.

Hopefully Apple will want to sue LG now - seeing as that appears to be the mark of a good device.

Its got a rectangle touch screen, Apple will be all over LG's legal team now.

What icons too, Dam it , will people please stop copying Apple.

On a serious note, the problem with LG is their software support or lack of it. No point releasing a high end
device if consumers have no faith in the support.

Interesting, but I'm holding out for some higher resolution screens to start coming along. Maybe they could call them Iris or Conjunctivitis or something...

Alas, this is so true it's unbelievable. LG software is pretty shocking tbh, so glad my O2X is no longer my primary phone so I can drop a custom ROM on it now

As good as the hardware on this is, I simply wouldn't but another LG phone...

    Re: News - LG Optimus G officially unveiled - 1.5GHz quad-core monster

Must be the only one, LG isnt great but neither is Samsung or any other company with updates, look at the Galaxy R/Z it only just got a leak of ICS. We have been told that LG is releasing ICS either this month or during september, the ICS rom has already been uploaded to their servers for the su660 which is the Korean model of the O2x (very easy to port...minutes).

Its all Nvidia devices that take a bugger long time to get updated, im sure qualcomm is a much better beast to work with! LG has updated their other phones that use TI SoC but they are very open with drivers etc so I could only go with past experience that my HTC HD2 with qualcomm was able to be hacked to run almost every OS .

About the bootloader, I have no idea what they will do because all previous phones have been unlocked however the LG O4x has a locked bootloader so maybe they have changed future devices, id wait and see!.

Looks like a good device, hopefully it is so then LG can make bucket loads of cash and reinvest it in their mobile software dept so they can get more developers in and hopefully then faster rom deployment . Thankfully I got my O2x till next may then ill decide if I buy a new phone/contract or go on giffgaff since ICS is almost here and JB will be available swiftly after via CM so it may turn out to be even better haha, hopefully this spearheads better phones for 2013 .

God dam LG, don't you know anything. Apple own the patent for the rectangle, the colour white, touch screens, icons, using fingers and the letter i

Let's hope it has a exceptional reception for poor signal area as per my other LG smartphones, and oh yes the software update is their weak point.
