Either apple have been scared a bit by Google's attack on Siri and the Motorola case, or Google have decided to sell their soul away and pay some licenses to keep apple quiet.

I think this will be in response to the surge in Nokia's share price on the back of the Samsung loosing against Apple last week. Apple know the threat from Microsoft/Nokia is much much greater than Google/Samsung if Nokia gets rolling with phones again.
