Now make it affordable and I am all in. In my opinion this is exactly what all tablets shoud be - Intel x86 compatible, with rear and front HD cameras, dock-able with keyboard, with Windows 8 pre-installed and Wacom pen support. Ideal companion for any real user - student, professional, family PC or whatever. Unlike ARM that is just for kids and beta testers IMO (for the moment anyway).

A tablet not stuck in Windows Stupid (TM) mode, very tempting. I wonder how the Atom chip and 2GB RAM will hold up in real world use.

Ah but how much does it cost?

Because even thou this is a "Pro" device, I doubt anyone would ever want to use it for long outside of metro.

My cruddy AMD tablet runs nicely in Metro, but struggles still with anything complex on the desktop.

Keeping an eye on these Atom machines - I think they could prove to be very popular. The extra power and access to legacy hardware is well worth the (likely) modest trade-off in battery life.

All you Atom haters do realise the average ARM chip is no faster right?

Just cheaper and more power efficient. The only thing (and it is, admittedly a big thing) going for Atom is the x86 support. If 8 RT takes off and/or ARM Linux gets organized then Atom needs to be doing a lot more for it to compete.
