Seems like a pretty beastly piece of hardware. How would it compare to the Xbox360s own specs in terms of real life performance?

If I can play my 360 games on it, or even stream live footage to it I.e making it the primary display I will be getting one!!!

Is it just me or are these blatently the specs for the next gen Xbox? Is it going to be called Xbox Surface and NOT Xbox 720?

    12 CPU Cores
    5GB RAM
    Custom AMD designed GPU

Nice specs and I am taking them with a pitch of salt.....

380w Psu, that is a mighty battery!
SCSI hard disk, im sure they may mean SAS as a native SCSI controller is a bit old school (by 5-10 years)
Im assuming that the 1440p output is via the HDMI and not the native 1280x720 screen.

    Re: News - Microsoft's powerful 7-inch Xbox-Surface tablet

The 380W PUS is for the stationary computing device i.e. the thing the tablet connects to, i.e. the next gen Xbox. There are two separate devices being specified here, the 1440p is the output from the stationary device probably will be via HDMI. This is Microsofts version of the Wii U

After reading it again its clearly the specs for the new Xbox. And the specs for the tablet are listed separately. Looks Awesome!

As long as it doesn't come with a similarly "awesome" price (e.g. £700), and it'll run XBox360 titles then put me down for a pre-order.

I've been "devolved" ... does it show?

The tablet is not a tablet, it's a WiiU

The "Stationary Computing Device" is the next xbox.

The tablet looks like it's REALLY lacking in memory. 288MB? Really? My 2 year old mid-range Android phone has 512MB...

    I wonder...

Nintendo did the first mainstream motion controller, Microsoft saw what they did and how much people took to interacting with a console is such a simple manner, and completely ran away with it.I wonder if this will be the same, they take the idea of the Wii U, and make it much better and how Nintendo should have done it.

    Stranger things have happened.

    Re: News - Microsoft's powerful 7-inch Xbox-Surface tablet

We could all be getting carried away here - they already have smartglass for current XBox, the mobile part of XBox surface could just be a low cost deviced tied to the smartglass app, so people who don't want to buy a Win 8 device can still get the benefit of the additional features that smartglass offers. That would make more sense of the apparently low memory amount - if it's just running a stripped down Windows runtime with one app on top it won't need much grunt...

Looks good, not going to like the price tag i'm thinking though. Any more details on the Xbox 720?
