I've got a Windows phone right now, and my next upgrade is toward the end of next year. I'm currently leaning more toward getting a Blackberry as I really miss the keyboard however if BB10 falls flat on it's face I'll stick with Microsofts offering.

Unfortunately the 920 is on an exclusive deal with EE, which means it won't work where I live.

Thanks for that but whilst I'm intrigued by WP8 and the Nokia 920 in particular (amazing new and useful features), like many, I'm going to sit it out this generation and wait till the platform matures more...

Nexus 4 it is for me (today hopefully!). Nexus 4 at £240 sim free vs £520 for the Nokia 920 is just too good value to pass up. Love that the Nex4 has wireless charging - that was one killer feature I would have really loved with the 920 anyway...

Re: Features - Has Windows Phone 8 tickled your fancy?

Wanted the 920, but Vodafone offered me a stupid upgrade deal on a Note II. Turns out I don't like Android, so I now want to sell up and buy a 920. Problem is, the Note II is now only going to bag me £380-£400, so I'd need another £120-£140 on top. Too pricey. I could get the 8X or 820 instead, but the former doesn't have Nokia Drive yet, and the latter is overpriced. Trying to decide if I should sell the Note now and use the money to buy a 920 when availability is better/unlock codes exist, or if I should just keep it as I'm sure the two handsets will have similar used values in a few months and I'll find someone willing to trade.

WP has a really tight hardware spec, and MS deliver a distribution made for that set of hardware. Anything the vendor wants to put on top as extra software is up to them, but they don't need to spend a lot of time and money on their own developers.
My Note II drives the Android UI about as well as my Lumia 710 drove Windows Phone 7.5's more graphically intense UI. Both are 95% of the way there, with the occasional stutter. Speaks volumes really.

The Nexus 4 aggressive pricing is just really good, however myself I know I'd find the space limiting, as I normally carry around a lot of music. However is that a £280 problem?! Not really. I would say thou I find it interesting google have created a phone almost intentionally cloud dependant, because I do think google and amazon are the evil content controllers.

Can't you just exercise your 'cool down' peroid in the upgrade agreement? Or did you upgrade long ago.

I *could*, but the offer is too good to turn down. Unlimited Calls and Texts, 2GB Internet, 3GB WiFi and a free Note 2 for £24/month for 24 months. Selling the Note 2 and pocketing the cash, that tariff would work out at £7.33/month. Actually, now that I write that down I think I'll do that - my Lumia 710 has life in it yet.

It's not different my my Gnex (16gb) in it's approach - and I have to say myself i have almost half of the space still free (even with thousands of photos and enough music etc). I'm unlikely to upgrade though because really there's not a huge different but if I were buying a phone now the N4 is a heck of a proposition.

I'd love to try a WP8 device though - i'm not an embedded android user.

Re: Features - Has Windows Phone 8 tickled your fancy?

I'll be going the WP8 route most likely, though there are some good deals going on older WP7.5 phones, such as the Nokia Lumia 800 going for £159.99 on Amazon for example. I'll be going sim free too, so it's a question of waiting until a number of WP8 phones are available, before I jump on a particular model.

The Hand, check out Phones4U as I saw they where selling the Nokia Lumia 800 for £130 16gb, which is frankly a bargin, easily the best phone at that money.

Doesn't Google have some sort of Cloud Streaming service for music now? Like iTunes Match or whatever its called?

£520 SIM free is a bit much for it to tickle my fancy.

Thanks for the heads up TheAnimus, look like the price is hovering around £170 on phones4u at the moment, but I suspect the pricing is going to be a bit more fluid with all thats happening in the market and with Xmas coming as well.

cloud streaming is also on wp, however its useless in the tube. Having lots of local storage for spotify/zune pass sorry xbox music pass is much better.
