Interesting, wonder what it'll cost?
I'm surprised they did this, I'd have thought they'd want to keep it as a reason to buy Nokia hardware.
the website is free, and quite frankly bloody good!
It will definately be my 'goto' for maps, but of course after google, because theirs is so well integrated (just type in EC2V or whatever into URL bar and boom!).
What's really funny, is how much better than Apple Maps it is.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
Fingers crossed for free then! I'd pay a few quid for it though and probably use it for SatNav duties, I find Google Maps Navigation has a tendency towards shortest rather than quickest route and ignoring my preferred route often to take me through a lot of traffic...
Apple Maps source data:
New Apple Maps name, Not Here
Less than totally impressed with Google Maps - while it's great for a quick "where the heck is that?", I keep coming across location errors. I bought ALK CoPilot a good while ago - mainly because unlike G.Maps CoPilot stores all it's maps locally so it's quite happy with those areas where there's no data signal. Plus the latest version has - to me at least - clearer maps and gives better directions. G.Maps on the other hand, IS free and seems to deal with reroutes faster.
As to HERE, I'd be quite interested - maybe even as a (paid for?) replacement for Google Maps. I remember the sat nav app I had on my old Nokia 770 tablet was very good - e.g. it had a speed-dependant zoom feature, which was great for bombing around town.
Any sign of the promised "urgent" improvements to Apple Maps? (not poking fun, merely interested)
They're just waiting for Marco Polo to navigate round Cape Horn. Shouldn't be more than 2, 3 years...Any sign of the promised "urgent" improvements to Apple Maps? (not poking fun, merely interested)
Yes, I know he probably didn't do that...
