All the best bits of the current OS's in one package with a clean, tidy and simple interface...

    MeeGo was fantastic.

On a separate note, Damien Dinning, imaging guy extraordinaire is leaving Nokia for 'personal' reasons. I wonder where he will turn up to next?

It looks brilliant, I love the whole pull down menu where the further you pull the different selections. This is what BB10 needed to be like to provide a solid user experience, I cant wait to try this!

    Go MeeGO!

Does anyone know how this will get onto other devices? I assume it will be able to run on any t3/s4 SoC etc? Be nice to port it onto my O2x .

Re: News - Jolla Sailfish mobile OS, MeeGo successor, launched

We are no longer in a world where mobile OSes compete. We are in a world where mobile ecosystems compete. A good OS is irrelevant without the ecosystem to go with it. And MeeGo has no ecosystem.

yes you're totally right hex however the fact that android apps will be for the most part compatible it will mean it has a huge advantage so we will likely see it becoming very successful.

Hopefully anyways as id like this OS to do well, MeeGo was shaping up really nicely and this is just better .

Didn't the Blackberry Playbook also claim to run Android apps? I'd hardly call that a runaway success.

Well BB wasnt open source, how many bought a playbook? not many till it was dirt cheap and originally it was very poor android compatibility iirc? also it wasnt available on most platforms, been reading a bit more and yeah it seems as though jolla will run on pretty much everything .

Being open source would certainly help the OS get the drastic support it would need to get direct apps to support it and to optimise it for lots of devices. If it wasnt open source id say it would be dead ion arrival but thankfully it shouldn't, we shall see though.

I have a feeling they will do something similar to Google with the Nexus product line which is certainly the best way to go .
