Ahahaha. This story keeps getting better and better. Is there some kind of anti-SLAPP equivalent Kim Dot Com could be bringing against the FBI/loss of earnings/damage to reputation. They may be protected under US law but can he pursue them through the NZ courts. This could be hilarious.

Given the right conditions and events, there's potentially a 100% chance of this affecting OUR children! Are you OK with this? I know I'm not.

Re: News - Shocking evidence suggests US set-up in Megaupload case

We live in a curious world, upon creating a wonderful tool that enables us to communicate and share content and ideas instantly and universally we immediately create artificial barriers to it.

Why? because old means of monetization and certain aspects of intellectual property, not intellectual accessibility, are deemed more important to a society. Organizations are then established to defend these financial rights, they do so by infringing, lobbying and corrupting the highest body of a working society to remove the most basic rights (privacy, prosecution...) of the people they represent.

But hell if a kid gives a piece of culture to another for free, after all besides directly paid distribution what other means of monetization do content creators have in a universally connected world?

Not surprising. The US government has been fabricating or misleading things to get what they want forever.

Not wanting to stick my neck too far out, especially not for politics, but how is UK any different in this? Or, in fact, any other colonial power out there? They're still failing to justify actions taken hundreds of years ago, let alone repair any, and you expect them to be honest about their current affairs? No disrespect, but I sincerely hope you don't, else you have plenty of growing up to do! Question here, to return to the topic on hand, is what was US govt hoping to gain by going after Dotcom (read: what information was on Megaupload servers that stirred so much dust up)?

Re: News - Shocking evidence suggests US set-up in Megaupload case

Meanwhile over in NZ the US still continue to refuse to comply with the NZ court ruling that they must give fuller disclosure of evidence of its case against Megaupload before the extradition hearing. Why is the US refusing to comply with the NZ court ruling that it has to give fuller discolsure of evidence of its case against Megaupload? Do they have any actual evidence of a case against Megupload? If the US were so certain of Meguploads guilt then they would be knocking down brick walls and generating such a hissy fit in getting Dotcom extradited as soon as possible and here they are refusing to comply with the NZ court that they must give fuller disclosure of evidence. If the evidence proved Megauploads guilt then surely they would be quickly complying with the NZ court ruling but no they are refusing to comply. So far the NZ court has ruled the actions of the search warrant, items being taken out of the country against orders of the court as illegal. If the US continues to refuse to comply with the NZ court ruling that fuller disclosure of evidence of their case against Megaupload must be given before the extradition hearing then the extradition case and hearing must be thrown out and extradition refused. If the US cannot comply and therefore has comtempt with NZ law and NZ legal system then what chance has Dotcom or any NZ citizen have of getting a fair trial in the US.
