What does the PlayStation 4 need in order to suceed?
    Another "c".

    ------------------------------------

I've not cared about console gaming my entire life, and now that Steam has launched on Linux I have even less reason to care.

Re: Features - QOTW: What does the PlayStation 4 need in order to suceed?

Main thing for me is backwards compatibility with my PS3 games.

Then allowing used games on the machine would go a long way for a lot of users.

I think some strong Social Media integration would help it out quite a bit.

Re: Features - QOTW: What does the PlayStation 4 need in order to succeed?

    In descending order of importance:

    - A redesigned/Modern UI (brighter/inviting/easier to parse(cleaner)/more focus on social and expandability)
    - XBox Live matching communications
    - Easy for developers to work for with features to excite developers (ports suffer less and developers WANT to work with it)
    - Developer incentives to bolster initial sales (to prevent PS Vita-like "Not enough customers to make games for" / "well not enough games to become a customer" infinite loop)
    - No locking of games
    - A more comfortable controller

I expect the latest 4K/Bluray stuff from Sony as standard. I'd also like to see Sony make one last effort with the Vita, perhaps offering closer ps4 integration, bundles and developer incentives (perhaps a combined incentive if games are made for both consoles?). If these controller rumours are true, with touch panel, certainly the gap between using a controller vs a ps vita will have closed and some developers may go the extra step to add Vita-screen integration. Contrary to many comments, I think the Vita is a damn nice console and is significantly different from a phone (rear-touch, true dual analogue sticks, real buttons, good grip) and yet still a better idea than NVIDIA's new hand-held because it'll still slip in your pocket and is truly portable.

Good, affordable games that can't be finished in a single day but actually return several hours of satisfactory entertainment that makes players want to go back or invest in more DLC.

Re: Features - QOTW: What does the PlayStation 4 need in order to succeed?

It's hard for me to think of what it would take for me to buy one. I guess backwards compatibility probably will be the clincher, as I've got too many games that I've invested money in (and still get out to enjoy occasionally) to dump it all now. Compatibility with last gen controllers would be handy as well.

Given that we know it'll be seriously expensive, I honestly can't think what would make me hand over my cash for one. Maybe if GTA:V never comes out for the PC...

Re: Features - QOTW: What does the PlayStation 4 need in order to succeed?

Backwards comparability and not through streaming. It doesn't even have to be for ps3 Give me ps1 and 2, the emulators work fine (mostly) so the ps4 could do that, and it would get rid of a couple of boxes from below my tv.
Not baring second hand, rented, borrowed games
    Some good NEW exclusive ip's
    Better interaction with my phone
Launch with more than just a handful of games, and not just ports from older systems, give us some choice
    GOOD GAMES FROM THE START!

    To not be $599.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

sub £200 price would be nice. Although the PS3 has put me off to be honest.
