Peanuts = Monkeys
Not only are they capping download speeds they are traffic managing an already high utilised home broadband service which is currently suffering from Very high oversubscription that has caused a massive High utilisation problem network wide....
Take a look at these extracts from the Virgin media community forum
http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/tag/M29/tg-p
With the recent buy up of Virgin media you would think that they could get their act together to fix those problems
I'm afraid that some people just like to moan. I'm on Virgin 60mbs and the service is fabulous. As for mobile, tethering - don't care, 2mbs download - I not downloading anything on my phone that really needs faster. Maybe I could go on Orange 4g and download something superfast and use up all my allowance.
And 2Mbps cap helps how exactly, vs fairly equally sharing bandwidth like already happens? Data caps prevent people downloading unreasonable amounts anyway. As someone said in reply to the comment, it's just a case of cost-cutting as much as possible until they lose too many customers, nothing to do with 'improving it for everyone'.
I'm also on 60Mbps and it's acceptable most of the time, but as I've said elsewhere, it occasionally completely fails, sometimes taking everything including BB/Phone/TV for a day or so. Not to mention making 'mistakes' on the bill fairly frequently. People complain when they get bad service, you can't just say 'meh it's OK for me, everyone else is just complaining for the sake of it', because they're probably not...
Speed limits + data caps = bad. Unless the mobile speed limit is like 10mbit, then it should be one or the other.
And, you wanted to see 4G speeds in UK... !
Wonder if this has anything to do with the recent take over of Virgin media.
If you look at the link about Virginmedia comments then half of them are about Home Broadband. What I have generally found in regards to this is you get a very vocal minority in regards to issues like this.
As for the Mobile Speed Cap - I really do not see the issue with this, what are you using your mobile for, web pages, facebook etc - Anyone who wants the faster speed is just not going to get it with "Unlimited" usage, sad but true.
No packages are unlimited anyway. The 'very vocal minority' are likely the ones who understand what it means and realise they are getting screwed again, no positives. If it doesn't bother you, fair enough, but that doesn't mean anyone who doesn't completely agree with you is complaining for no reason, or doesn't deserve the right to complain for getting less for their money.
And this is why I'm with 3 Mobile. I wouldn't touch any product from Virgin with a barge pole.

Either someone paid you to say that or you need to wake up. Mobile or tethering is the future and no one cares how fast you download anime on your desktop.
They were never brilliant. They are essentially NTL level of service with VM sticker slapped on.
Am i the only one who thought it might have something to do with trying to force people to move onto a more expensive 4G contract when they come around?
Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of companies start to deliberately limit the crap out of the 3G users to force them to move on.
