Must be the SSD at present. Been building my rigs on the cheap lately until I have funds to build my next dream rig.
Was it worth it? Very much so. Going back to HDD based systems feels like an absolute dog.
Shall be phasing out all my HDD boot drives in favour of SSD when I can.
Re: Features - QOTW: What's the most expensive component in your PC?
3570k and Corsair HX 1000w psu, both were def worth it as i only paid $160 out of pocket for the 3570K (birthdays FTW) and paid $230 for the PSU; which is solid after 5 years :D
Re: Features - QOTW: What's the most expensive component in your PC?
My 3770K CPU if you count each graphics card singly, but I have spent about $600 on two GTX580s SLI'd and under water. I keep upgrading incrementally month to month.

In the PC - Intel 80GB SSD for £175 - worth every penny (used as a scratch drive now, have an Samsung 840pro as the main drive).
Overall - Dell U3011 monitor - damn expensive (and the cost of 2 U2711s) but worth every penny ... and with a 5 year warranty will be around for a while yet.

Oh, and my server case (24x hotswap - £400) - also worth it to save having to open the case to swap a drive.

Titan, without a close challenger, it's more than paid for itself though unlike the soundcard which was just for pleasure :)
Re: Features - QOTW: What's the most expensive component in your PC?
My most expensive component is my gpu (Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X GHz edition) that I bough for 420€. It has definitely been worth the money I threw at it.
Re: Features - QOTW: What's the most expensive component in your PC?
Definitely the GPU - 4GB GTX 680
More than worth it.
Re: Features - QOTW: What's the most expensive component in your PC?
definatly my gpu, then 3770K, then mobo, SSD, case, H80i, then mass storage HDD. I only regret not getting a better water cooler, or better yet a cooling loop for GPU as well.

From most to least expensive:
Monitor: Dual Dell U3011
CPU - Intel Xeon E5-2687W
NAS - 12tb (4x3gb WD Red in RAID5) Synology DiskStation DS412+
RAM - 64gb Wintec ECC
SSD - 2x Samsung 830 256gb in RAID0
Mobo - Asus P9X79-WS
Still only running GTX480 in dual SLI... hoping to upgrade to 780s. :3

GPU
CPU
Motherboard
SSD
HDD
PSU
Case
RAM
Cooling
-_-
GPU was definitely worth the big bucks at the time though. It really does make all of the difference, especially over integrated graphics. The only major regret I did have was opting for SLI, but at least I did it at a later date when my second GPU was cheaper. SLI worked well for most things without issue and it helped me get my desired 1080p60 on ultra in Dragon Age II, but due to the VRAM being mirrored, not striped, I had the horsepower but I still didn't have enough VRAM to run Battlefield 3 on Ultra. Oh well. We live and learn!
Re: Features - QOTW: What's the most expensive component in your PC?
Most expensive part in my PC was my CPU, AMD FX-8150, was around 250 Euros when it arrives at the market and it was definitely worth it! Playing Battlefield 3 WHILE rendering a 1080p video with Sony Vegas is just awesome. And the best? The CPU is just at 85%! Perfect!
Next most expensive part was my GPU, AMD HD6950 XXX by XFX. I know it's not the top GPU in the world but for about 180 Euros a really good catch. Runs BF3 with all details smoothly on average 45-65 fps. That's enough for the moment.
Next part is my Dell UltraSharp U2312HM for about 170 bucks. Cool offer, shot it, worth it. Incredibly display, great ergonomics, matt display, pure style, great LED back light (can be used as a lamp in the night, you'll see everything! :D), great performance, absolutely worth it!
Next is my case with about 160 bucks, Corsair 600T white. Stylish case, looks a little bit like a storm trooper, great options. Worth it.
Then we have the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3. Shot it for about 140, little bit after release. Great, stable mainboard, no problems with it, so worth the price.
Now here's my over all smiling part, the Crucial M4 SSD with 128 GB capacity. Got it for 120 bucks last summer and damn! That was worth every cent! Great performance, windows runs in about 18 seconds from pushing the power button, it's really fast, noiseless, no temperature, perfect piece technology!
Next coming up is the BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 2 CPU cooler. And damn that thing is really big! Got it for about 70 bucks while bringing back my second H60 to the store. The H60 wasn't worth one cent to me but the BeQuiet still is! Super great optic, great performance, cools my CPU down to 27 degrees C, perfect!
My PSU is a BeQuiet L8 630 Pure Power Watts with cable management and yup, was worth it for about also 70 bucks.
And now there's the little sh** piece of technology that was also not worth a cent. The RAM. 8 GB (2x 4 GB) Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600. I really don't like that RAM. It's not running on 1600 without overclocking (and that's not mentioned on the box) and it still feels laggy. Had Kingston before (just 4 GB) and that ran on 1600 without oc and didn't felt so laggy.
