They are seriously only patching the GOTY versions of Arkham Asylum and City? What a joke!

Also, do you know what's happening to Halo 2 and Gotham City Impostors?

I would assume Halo 2's campaign and LAN games will still be playable offline.

GCI... well the GFWL version was so laggy anyway, and they killed it off when they released the F2P version, so even if it doesn't have server-side authentication... what am I talking about? It's a MP-only game anyway so yes, it will be dead!
I think GFWL GCI is basically dead, and has been since F2P GCI came out.

Halo 2... I'm not sure. I think it can be played with a local profile, but I don't know if it requires activation.

I'm now happier than I was 5 minutes ago

I found out how to create a local profile for GFWL.

    I followed this guide https://forum.suprbay.org/showthread.php?tid=141909

and it now auto-logs into my new local profile instead of online one, so single player DOW II and GTA 4 and episodes work via it aswell.

    yey happy me

although I have lost all of my save games for both games, ahh well, gives me an excuse to replay them now

does anyone know whether the gfwl client will still be able to install after next july?

so if I do a windows reinstall I can still install gfwl to do the offline mode?

Yes. For games which support offline mode (list 2 from my set of lists above)

G4WL was just a fail. Had potential and even good timing, but just executed badly.

Dark Souls need to get a patch...

Whole situation shows that how digital distribution / DRM may be a joke.

To an extent. What about everyone who owns the original copies of both games? I'm pretty sure they can't redeem their keys to receive the Steam GOTY versions.

That's exactly what they can do. Well, in theory. There have been delays adding all the keys to Steam's key database.

One downside: you can't load saves from the GFWL game (GOTY or base), you need to start again
