Is it just me or does this read exactly like a PR piece from Samsung?

Not that I've got against Samsung, since 3/5 of the systems in the house using Samsung SSD's exclusively - 830 and 840EVO's - and very good drives they've proved to be.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

It does indeed, sounds like Samsung wrote it themselves and it hasn't been edited at all!
My 850 pro was shipped yesterday after my Kingston v200 died last week, so I do hope for some better speeds and also reliability! The Kingston was only 2 years old.

Well yes. Thankfully Hexus now include disclaimers for which I applaud them.

Definitely. I hope this is a mistake and this was meant to be in the industry press releases section/was due to be flagged as a paid/promotional piece or similar. No fair and balanced article should be saying something like "Samsung is, in late-2014, the only vendor to consider".

As you note, they have added a disclaimer, but I still think it reflects badly on Hexus writers that these articles are listed as features/news rather than something more clear like 'sponsors article'. Same as with the posts from paids reps on the forums. You have to do some checking (albeit minor) to realise that it's not a genuine post or news article, which particularly on the news article front, makes it look like Hexus doesn't know what it's talking about, which will ultimately be harmful for a site like this IMHO.

IMO the disclosure sentence should be at the top as well or instead of the bottom. Informative but obviously not intended to be balanced, which is fair enough in that the alternative is to not have an article at all but still does limit its usefulness.

I wish my comments were sponsored.

No problems with it myself seeing as there is the disclaimer - it means we can put anything in it in context rather than take it as opinion.

Impressive 3D V-NAND technology. I'm planning to upgrade my 256 GB 830 SSD to 850, but 512GB is still too expensive.
