and I expect twice the compression for 60fps uploads....

I recently watched some 4k stuff on youtube, compression artefacts everywhere making the 4k experience worse than bluray for about 75% of the video. I hate lossy compression

Yeah they should really increase the bitrate. It's more important than 60fps imo.

My experience is filesize actually drops for a well tuned 60fps video vs 24fps (I use smoothvideoproject with movies), my best guess is x264 works better when there are more frames with smaller differences.

I hope this will also allow 50fps, most of the footage I film is 1080p 50fps progressive.

Cue use of videos for and against the dumb yet persistent "there is no difference" and "your eyes can't see the extra frames" argument. Yay!

Pointless! They still don't offer 5.1 surround sound support. Perhaps work on this first?

5.1 is more pointless than 60fps. There's more people that can watch 60fps than listen in 5.1.

Wow Google instantly makes chrome the only browser usable for 720p and 1080p youtube videos and another reason I wish there was an alternative to youtube with it's quantity of video.

Re: News - YouTube rolls out 60fps video support for HD videos

Found out the hard way today that Firefox will not play 60fps in HD.

Watching videos in 480p has done nothing to convince me the increased load times/bandwidth is worth it.

I'm more annoyed that Youtube gave me no way to view the 60fps videos in HD @ 30fps instead, forcing me to use a paltry resolution. Not a good trade.

I will not switch browsers to use Google's proprietary tech; it's like forcing G+ on people again.
Life is like a hair on a toilet seat. Sooner or later you're bound to get pissed off!

Just honestly hope those people who think fps can be measured by human eyes can actually think for a change, and stop defending the degradation of film and video quality in the future.
