You have long ceased to be of interest.

Re: Elite: Dangerous refunds now being judged case-by-case

If I recall correctly I forked out £100. I think I launched the game once but had several problems so I firmly placed it into a wait and see pile (this was some time ago). I did contact frontier for a refund (I think companies should deliver what they say, call me a radical) using their system but they have yet to respond after a couple of weeks. I managed to find a phone number for them and they've given me an email address to contact. I'm going to see how it goes, but if it doesn't go well, well... they are not yet aware their offices are just over the road from me .

Did you investigate the problems further, bearing in mind it was expected to be pretty bug-ridden at that stage?

No, I do not expect beta software to work correctly, this is not the reason for my seeking a cancellation - I simply expect release products to match their marketing bumf.

Re: Elite: Dangerous refunds now being judged case-by-case

My interest in debating this point is pretty limited I'm afraid. There is a case of Mr Braben being asked the question, which I paraphrase:

'Will this game be able to run on a laptop that is not plugged into the internet?'

    'Unequivocally, yes'

I've been offered a full refund so any such debate is moot to me at this point.

I could read a lot into that... Does 'not plugged in' mean not physically connected by a wire, or does it mean fully offline including wireless?
He is often quoted as saying he plays ED on the train over a mobile connection, which qualifies as 'not plugged in'.
The specifics are exactly what people are getting hung up on, despite FD being very specific in their language.

As is, I'm having a whale of a time playing!

If they're going to get as legalese as that then to be honest it deserves to fail. The whole launch process has completely put me off this to be honest, releasing something at full fat prices whilst openly admitting it lacks content is inexcusable. Perhaps braben is looking for a job at ubisoft?

(note, I've no issue playing unfinished sandbox games, as the 100+ hours into ksp, factorio and banished attest.)

What legalese is there? This is a paraphrase of a statement by someone who chose very precise words for a reason.
The entirety of the game is about NOT hand-holding and that attitude carries over into everything else.
If FD saying, "we will TRY to put an Offline mode in there but, while theoretically possible, it's not part of the original plan" is not good enough and have to carry big 'MAY NOT HAPPEN IN THE END' warning stickers every time it gets mentioned, then what's the point of telling you anything about it beforehand?

It has pretty much everything it was billed to have at release, as far as I know. All the other content is and always was slated as post-release, as stated very early on.
