Re: QOTW: What are the specs of your main PC?

Main gaming "PC": Nexus 7 2012 (spec: Tegra 3, 1GB RAM, 32GB flash, Android 4.4.4).

I hope that the IPEGA 9023 controller I ordered will help make my ASUS VivoTab Note 8 (Atom Z3740, 2GB RAM, 32GB flash + 32GB microSD, Windows 8.1) into the gaming PC I wanted it to be, and help cut down on some of my PC game backlog.

We (my wife and I) bought an IdeaPad Y70-70 a week ago, which could be a pretty decent gaming machine, but it looks like psychologically I have a problem gaming on a PC which isn't only one, and I've gotten so used to playing on a tablet that I probably won't switch from that. I'm using it to post this, but I think I'll be going now to play some Blackwell Deception on the Nexus 7.

Re: QOTW: What are the specs of your main PC?

My home system. Primarily used for Avid Media Composer and After Effects.

    Case: Corsair 400R
    PSU: Corsair 60W
CPU: Intel Core i7-4770 (Didn't buy the K because I didn't plan to overclock)
    Motherboard: Asus Z87 Pro
    GPU: Asus GTX 780
    Memory: Corsair Dominator 32GB (4x8GB)
Storage: System Samsung Evo 120GB, Working Drive: 3X500GB Raid O managed by OS, Internal Assets: 2X2TB Seagate
    External Storage: 2X Seagate Expansion 2TB and 3X 1TB
    Monitor: 2x Dell 2412
    OS: Windows 7 Pro, SP1, 64-bit

Everything else gets done (mail, web etc.) on a Dell XPS M1330 laptop running Debian and a Compaq V2000 sharing assorted external Seagate 500GB USB drives. The Dell is five years old; the Compaq is approaching ten!

Re: QOTW: What are the specs of your main PC?

Here's my main rig at the moment:

    CPU: i5-4570
    Motherboard: MSI H97 Gaming 3
Graphics card: MSI GTX 750 Ti Gaming 2GB
    Memory: Samsung Green 16GB (4x 4GB)
    Storage: Samsung 830 512GB SSD (2x 256GB)
    PSU: Thermaltake Smart SE 530W
    Case: NZXT Source 340
    Monitors: Crossover 27Q 27" 1440p IPS

Waiting for the GTX960 release to possibly go for an upgrade as the GPU is the weakest link in my build. Also replaced the cooler with a fanless Coolermaster V8 because I prefer the look but I haven't taken any pictures.

Build log for anyone interested. It's near silent too!

I did recently buy an Alienware Alpha along with a LG 29EA93-P 29" ultrawide monitor so it'll be interesting to see how that compares to my main gaming rig. Paid £340 ish for the base i3, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD spec but I've managed to grab an i5-4590T, 8GB RAM and a 256GB Toshiba THNSF SSD to upgrade it.

An ultrawide 2560x1080 monitor has 25% less pixels than a 2560x1440 monitor so for gaming, I should actually get more framerates on the Alienware Alpha than my main rig. Looking forward to receiving it!

Re: QOTW: What are the specs of your main PC?

I use this system mainly for 3D modelling and production rendering in iray/mental ray using 3ds max. But occasionally for gaming, so having 4x GTX Titans in SLI is an added bonus, and they don't even break a sweat running any game on ultra settings with temps staying bellow the 50c mark due to the push/pull setup on the front bays. 32 CPU cores for mental ray, and 10,752 Cuda cores for iray rendering. It may sound like overkill for some gamers, but if I am rendering an animation that takes say a 4770 12 days to render, this system can do it in 4 days, and again for the Titans which scale beautifully in iray, means the difference between waiting 40 minutes for a noise free HQ image, down to 10 minutes which is essential when running a business that requires multiple high quality images per day. The dual PSU set up also means the system can handle all CPU's and GPUs if necessary to meet a deadline, as its not just about the watts but the amps in a system like this. System has been 100% stable since I built it 2 years ago, and very pleased with it.

That is a beast of a system. Probably the most powerful machine here on Hexus.
