For the life of me I can't understand why people would buy an incomplete product.

2016 finish is a bit of a bummer but i do enjoy DayZ even if it is unfinished ...Better than alot of full release games out there ... Still can't a truck but a bycicle would be nice to get around though

I cant help but think the incentive to actually finish making the game to a high standard decreases as more people buy the game before the official release.

Put it like this, what's the point in finishing the game if everyone who was going to buy your game has already bought it? (Taking it to an extreme to make a point).

I actually got the DayZ early access as there was a lot of my friends playing it and I wanted to join in. Turns out it was a mistake, and I learned my lesson. Kinda the same as I learned my, 'Pre-order' lesson with COD:BO.

    My rules these days:
    No Pre-order
Only do early access if i really really want to support the development of the game
Wait till there are genuine independent reviews on a game before purchasing anything
Ignore 'additional features' on release, its usually crap
If the additional pre-order features are ruin the experience for everyone who didn't pre-order, don't play the game at all.

Re: DayZ passes Steam Early Access three million sales milestone

I have it but i also like being part of the development (to a certain degree)

the server side needs lots of work to ... far to many times i have been caught out changing server and loosing all my kit .. also the game its self is a nightmare for hogging system resources, it makes the other servers lag when i have it running ..

hopefully the will do some work on that side also.

Re: DayZ passes Steam Early Access three million sales milestone

Last time I played it I just saw the problems with the ARMA engine stand out (like sliding around inside houses etc) - nothing was fixed and looked like the engine was just going to break this game at its core.

Hope they managed to sort it out - but doubt it (as ARMA never bothered to fix the bugs and they own the engine!!!)
