There are a lot of people who do get a lot of enjoyment from gaming, it's a massive ecosystem, but to do it properly the barrier to entry has gotten a smidgen high. Maybe that's progress (anyone think so?) but for me I am a little too nostalgic for the good old Voodoo 2 days to be spending twice what that cost me on a card that won't do 100hz gaming.

If you want all the bells and whistles, then yes, the entry price has gone up. You threw 100Hz in there, that in itself can almost double the cost of your GPU requirements. Want 4K? Double it again.

Now if you can live with 1080p@60Hz (most can, I do half my gaming at that resolution on a 60" screen and it still looks fabulous), the entry level is constantly dropping.

it looks like just a card for fanboys with tons of cash, that nVidia made just to temporary get the crown of "the fastest single gpu card".

The 390x was being touted around in public...nVidia probably wanted to take the shine off of AMD. On top of that is the fact that they haven't had a £1000 card to sell to the overly-rich-gamer since the 780Ti released.

I would think this has been in development a lot longer than people have been talking about 390X rumours. They released the Titan simply because people will buy it. Not many people, but not many people buy Ferraris and Ferrari are still in business! They make enough from a small volume of sales for it to be profitable.

Yeah, though there was the GTX780 at that point, and maybe the Ti too? Both of which were unreasonably expensive at launch (as was the 290X) but came down to something more reasonable after a while. To be honest, I almost wouldn't bother reading a review on any Titan product because it's obviously never going to be at a price that normal people would ever consider paying. I have to say though I'm pretty impressed by what this offers vs the GTX980 (in pure performance that is - obviously there's no value for money).

I think this will kill a powerfully Workstation GPU FirePro's, just think how much is stronger than workstation GPU, I will like to test this GPU for 3D applications like Autocad and Archicad with vray Rendering on Artlantis Studio. I really doesn't have a idea or comment ??????????? 16GB of memoryyyyyy I will like this one GPU

naaaaa am just waiting for the R9 395 X2 with 16GB HBM GDDR5 Dual GPU it will kill anything Nvidia has ever made with a fatality beyond index.

You can't have HBM GDDR5, its one or the other. Two separate RAM types.
