Still using a 775 socket Q6600! I'm desperate to upgrade but if the rumours of only a 10% improvement are true I may wait another year. In hindsight I should have bought a 4790K last year.

The Z170 is more exciting to me since it'll mean NVMe and ultra m.2 on far cheaper motherboards. With the big falls in RAM prices these are the reasons to buy. Not Intel with their expensive CPUs that are crippled by using half the silicon for integrated graphics that only a handful of HTPCs will use.

I have a 2500, yeah it isn't the best but it'd cost about £350-400 to upgrade it, and there is no CPU in the world that'd give a bigger FPS boost than a GPU for the same money.

I'm gonna keep my 2500 until I am forced to change it

I'm with you man, I have a 2400 and I still feel it's holding it's own for now. Will more than likely wait for Zen and then decide.

My asus p6t deluxe (x58 with an i7 920) is dying. The main pcie slot is dead. Yes I'm upgrading. To a 6700k? That depends how it compares to a 5820k.

Using a 4670k on Z87 MB so another nope to add to the pile. Splashing cash on a new graphics card is my priority. Just waiting for 970 V R9 390 DX12 benches before pulling the trigger.

Re: QOTW: Are you planning on upgrading to Intel Skylake?

Im definately thinking about upgrading my 2500k to a skylake. will all depend on if they overclock as good as they say they will, and if the gains are worth it.

Re: QOTW: Are you planning on upgrading to Intel Skylake?

I'm planning to upgrade, my Q9550 and HD6950 actually basically my entire system is getting long in the tooth.

Whether that will be a Skylake chip will depend almost entirely on how much they cost. Given the few Broadwell i5 chips that made it to release are significantly more expensive then the Haswell i5 offerings with virtually no benefit for someone who won't use the intel graphics, if the Skylake ships come in at or more expensive then the Broadwell chips then I will have think long and hard over whether I am going to upgrade to a Skylake chip, a Haswell chip or wait again.

Re: QOTW: Are you planning on upgrading to Intel Skylake?

Nope. Next processor series that's even really on my radar is AMD "Zen" in 2016/2017. My AMD FX-8320 is doing me fine at present.

Re: QOTW: Are you planning on upgrading to Intel Skylake?

Nope, can't see the point quite happy with my 4790k running all cores @ 4.4GHz @ 1.12 volts and don't really care about performance of the internal graphics card. That is only relevant when I sell on to a relative.

I fancy building a new completely silent small form factor pc thats also fairly powerful so i will look at Skylake but it does depend on how much a complete system will cost.

Nope, can't see it being much of a gain from my 4670k.
