So why is it most of the overclockers I know who achieve results near the top of the charts are all using Tis and Titans? What am I missing there, then and why are the red cards so often so far down the scoreboard?

The thing is, I expect the driver for that is the Tegra range of mobile chips. Tegra isn't what I would call a great success.

According to the infamous Valve hardware survey, the 970 is *really* popular.

Best bang for buck / Performance it has to be AMD, not quite as refined as Nvidia as they always tent to use more power and produce more heat. I have a Nvida card currently but only as i got it 2nd hand at a good price, but starting to think the saving i made is going to be lost as wanting to upgrade my monitor to a G-sync and found they are alot more than AMD's freesync technology monitors which does not require any of there hardware in the monitor allows the monitors to be manufactured cheaper which then passes on the saving onto the consumer. Looks like i will not be buying a new g-sync monitor for a long time.

That's a great point - AMD tend to make their ecosystems more consumer-oriented (and so better "value").

Would love to pick up a FreeSync monitor in the near future.

AMD are stronger on the upper end, 380 and above.

The 7850 (non-)revision 3, aka the 370, is yet another rebrand without adaptive sync support and the question around the 360's ability to work as well with slower CPUs as the 750ti means it's hard to recommend too.

The 380 and 390 are obvious AMD victories unless you've bought a new monitor in the last couple of years. Variable refresh rates are a big deal and it's difficult to imagine g-sync will continue to be supported for the life of a monitor.

Don't have any experience with the 960, but I can speak very highly of the Sapphire R9 380 4GB.

I picked one up a few weeks back (for a very old PC - see my spec!), and it's given the machine a whole new lease of life. Tearing through newer games like Alien Isolation at 2560x1080; I was pleasantly surprised!

My last few cards have all been nVidia (7900GT, 8800GTS, GTX260), so it's nice to be back with the red team. Oh and the dreaded AMD drivers - apart from .NET still sucking, they've been great!

    Cheers,

    Su

The GTX750 lost badly to the R7 265. So again AMD are faster for less money. Cards like the 730 are can't hold up against AMD's APUs so again AMD are better.

They are the best price/performance of any card that doesn't require additional power supply connections. IE both are pci-e only.

Perfect upgrade fodder for people who wants to play a few games.

AMD had nothing that competes with these. Other than dissapointment

Well apart from an APU maybe. I bet AMD have a card with a PCIE power connector that would better Nvidia in cost and and performance that shipped with a Molex to PCIE cable though.
